Just got their new cataloge and some of their knives in the Magnum line look cool.. but just wondering of the quality for $10-$30 knives..

I know that at least some of the Magnum line have roots elsewhere. A few knives that used to be branded as "Timber Wolf" (a BudK brand) showed up in the Magnum line about the same time they were phased out of the TW line (at about three times the price). There are also obvious rebranded United and other rebranded knives in the line that most people wouldn't even consider if they were marked with their former brand.

But unlike those other brand names which are made by the night shift, Boker does QC testing like Byrd.

Heh?

What I was saying is that a lot of these knives have been made for years and been marked with other companies names. The Magnum name is just a another stamp. It doesn't change the knife, just puts another name on it. Some of the line may be unique to Boker, but some is bought from a catalog.

Byrd is a whole 'nuther ball game. They are unique designs made for a single buyer.

On the whole, however, the Boker Magnum line offers good value for the money spent. These are decent low-end users.

I know they are made for other buyers.
Boker does actual QC on them though.

I wouldn't take one over one of my Busse's or Spyderco's but they are good knives that fill a gap, they are called lowner knives.

Out of curiosity, how do you know that?

Rough Rider knives are said to have pretty good quality and Boker has nothing to do with them.

Dont know about all of them, what I have had is good considering the price tag. Subcom, lockback, and one linerlock!

They are the top of the heap in China production i think.Good cheap knives.

I have a boker magnum(costs like 12bucks in the US I think, but I got it for 30), and it's framelock has better lockup than my Boker CLB Trance....Not so great steel though.

Just got the Boker Catalog myself and there are several good looking Magnums that I would love to see in the Boker/Boker Plus lineup.

I was just thinking for those times when you just want to order a few knives for the glove compartment, toolbox, workbench, reloading room, etc. When I don't have an EDC on me for some reason.

For this kind of money I would buy something from Kershaw, Byrd or Böker Plus instead...
