Boker Plus is releasing another new, awesome design from a custom maker; the Uolcos

Looks pretty good. Somewhat resembles a mix of a BadBlood Mosier Persian and a CRKT Mah Eraser (well, to me anyhow) . Not too crazy about the clip design, but the price is right, and i like the blade length, so it may be a must-have.

I handled one at BladeHQ. Ergos are the best I've ever felt on a knife, which is thanks to the amazing design. Weight was rather hefty, which I don't mind if the quality is there ... sadly it was not. Flipping, fit, finish and materials were all subpar. Such a let down to such an extraordinary design.

Could it have been a one-off?

And I agree with the Bad Blood Persian comment -- it does look somewhat similar. Bad Blood has some awesome designs, and it sounds like people are quite satisfied with the quality as well, so it's weird that they rarely get mentioned here.

What do you mean by a one-off? Do you mean perhaps I saw one bad example? Sadly that's not the case, just not well made 😢

I personally like the look. A lot of people really rip on Boker Plus for crappy quality. I think it is exactly the opposite. For people who want the look and feel of the custom, high end, high priced models for a realistic price. For the average knife user, VG10 and 440C are both very good steels and a lot of their knives use titanium for handle slabs. I have nothing but experiences with the Boker Plus line. I had one of the old Epicenters with the lock face issue and that was the only problem. It really would need to be forced for lock failure which means you would need to be cutting with the spine of the knife or prying with it. I feel very confident that this knife will have the same good quality, fit, and finish of the others I have owned.

I agree that the Uoclos looks fantastic. The price is excellent as well. I'm done with spending a fortune for knives and as soon as the Uoclos hits my local knife store I'm snapping one up. Boker is a great company for making good knives at a price that is usually affordable.
I'm looking forward to their Sal Manaro fixed blade tanto as well.

It's the little things that stand out, like the pivot screw that is exactly the same as the Enlan produced Boker Magnum A-Stan, Enlan screw with a Torx in the centre makes me think this one could be made "offshore."

Just read the spec sheet from Blade HQ and it is indeed made in China, no worse for that, it ensures good quality at a very good price, saying that BHQ have this up for $59.99, I'd like to see it for less than that.
Very nice knife though.

Well I Uolcos arrived today. First of all the bad stuff, It is a heavy knife, mainly because the liners aren't skeletonized. It also was dull as a butterknife, it wouldn't even cut regular envelope paper. The blade was a little off center, but thats not a big deal to me. It also has one teflon washer on the show side, the other one is bronze. I was able to sharpen it on the Sharpmaker enough to cut paper but the blade is pretty thick at the edge, so it will probably never be a great slicer. I do like the look and feel of it, but I'm a little disapointed overall. There is little doubt in my mine that it is made by the same people who make Srm or Enlan knives. Don't get me wrong though, i like the knife just not at this price point. One of my pet peaves is a brand new knife that arrives dull. There is no excuse for this.

. Here it is next to a Buck Vantage Pro, Spyderco stretch, CS Rajah III and CS Large Voyager. It's a pretty big knife.

I feel like for the price point that their going to sell a ton of these. The blade gives you a nice choil with a spot for your thumb, a nice sweeping design with a recurve that's almost in the center like the commander. This knife seems very utilitarian and has practical uses for the out doorsie type too. Good design.

tlov, how was the flipping? lockup nice and tight? does the liner have late or early lockup?

It flipped fairly smooth, had to use a little wrist. Lock up was solid and early. The ergos are probably some of he best that I have handled.

Why not? You've got a Sharpmaker, thin the edge. Or just strop it on fine sandpaper on top of a mousepad - you'll get a thin convex edge that way. There really is no excuse for a knife arriving dull from the factory, but if you really want to use and enjoy the knife , you have the tools to make it more to your liking.
