Boker Plus Kwaiken Flippers are here . . .

I'll echo the statement of others. I'm really a blade snob, but any knife over $100 should at least have 154CM or S30V.

Just ordered mine. They are back in stock at KC. Very excited, been waiting for these to come out. After watching a couple of videos, there are a couple of things I hadn't noticed before. The backspacer appears to be titanium! If this is the case it is a major upgrade from the plastic backspacer on the micarta version, which was one of my biggest gripes with that knife. Also, the clip has a split in it and is also inset into the Ti scale, which is a nice touch. I can see this knife sliding in and out of the pocket easier than the micarta version, which tends to be a bit stiff. Lastly, the finish on the Ti scales look very nice, can't wait to see what they look like in person. As for the steel, sure it could be better, but I think they were trying to keep the cost down and I'm fine with that. Honestly this isn't a knife that I'm going to beat on. AUS8 takes a keen edge and if I need to strop it at the end of the day, not a big deal.

BTW, here's a quick video on the knife from Boker:

I am keeping an eye on this thread. If they have licked the sharp exposed tip problem that was common on the micarta version, I am in.

I received mine yesterday and honestly it's fantastic. All of the original issues have been fixed, with the same great fit and finish. The balance is pretty off, but that's to be expected. It's a little less smooth than the original, but overall it's another knockout.

That issue has been fixed in the Kwaiken flipper. Awesome piece at a high value price. Looks great and a lot more expensive-looking. Excellent fit & finish built in Taiwan.

Would've liked a little jimping on the flipper. Misfired a couple of times tonight. Itchy trigger finger. :)

It's about an ounce heavier than the Orange G10 version.

Here's another video by BladeHQ:

Totally agree with you. Been wishing I could get a custom Burnley Kwaiken but I would be too scared to EDC it at the price they go for. This is a great offering from Boker and I'm glad Mr. Burnley agreed to release a production flipper version. So excited.

The first batch we got went quick, but we did just get another small batch. Boker is out and it may be awhile before we see more, so please don't hesitate if you were looking to get one of these.

Thanks!

Glad I snatched one! I wonder if Boker underestimated how popular these would be.

I think for $125 I will pick up a spyderco PM2 in s30v or a Gayle Bradley in cpm-m4. Not that I don't love AUS-8. But I don't love it for more than $60-70.

I'm definitely going to pick one of these up in the future and then have it customized. Full Ti knife with IKBS and a flipper? That's the current recipe for success.

While AUS-8 isn't the best steel, it will certainly cover 95% of the people who EDC it.

I'm very proud of myself for not pulling the trigger on one of these. I sure as hell want one!

I went to local store this afternoon and they have 1 for sale. it is ser.#0004.
I bought it as soon as I saw it.

As many others have posted, i just dont prefer the blade steel when there are better options out there for that price point. Titanium? Cool. IKBS? Cool. Great edc design? Cool. Heck of a knife, but it could be vastly improved just by upgrading the blade steel. id rather pay 175 for s30 then 125 for aus8
