Boker Trance?

Morales where did you get your bronze washers and what size are they?
Thanks

I'm not Morales but I use the .330x.197x.020 for 3/16 pivot. Got them at Knifekits.com. They work fine.

In terms of kudos for the Trance, once I changed the washers, it is the only folder I regularly edc with a thumb stud. The rest of my edc's have a hole in the blade. The Trance is that good:D.

I can only attest to what everyone else already wrote. One thing I like is the close proximity of index finger to the blade, but the guard keeps you relatively safe from sliding onto the blade. The only things I'd change or add would be a D2 version and making the handle slightly longer for my big hands. Still, I have to admit the Trance is pro'lly he most comfortable folder I own.:thumbup:

I'm also going to agree with everyone else. The fact that it's so thin, but still pretty comfortable to hold is great. The flipper is a lot of fun too.

I'm making it my mission to buy all of the "cheap" fullsize steel framelocks. The Trance is a little small.
I just got the:
CRKT My Tighe $40
Benchmade Monochrome $35
Spyderco Catbyrd $30

The My Tighe is my first assisted opener. It's pretty cool. Lock up seems solid but the bar releases easily. There is also a piece of the scale that prevents over-travel of the lock bar.

The Monochrome is very thin. I got the black version because the silver one looks cheesy to me. It's operates smoothly and locks up securely. The lock bar is a little sticky when releasing.

The Catbyrd is the most beefy. The action is not very smooth. Takes a good amount of force to open the blade. The lock bar is very wide and thick. It is painful to release the lock bar mainly because of the jimping or whatever they did to give the thumb a better puchase. I sanded down the grooves a little but it only helped marginally. I still like the knife. You can always release it two handed. Locks up like a vault.

I'm waiting on the Kershaw Storm II. I'm also interested in the Kershaw Groove.

triplem thanks for the help. I just saved tha in my favorites for later. Might even order some for other knives. Plus some screws and tap for switching my para to tip up.

Thin and broad handle- minimizes potential twisting in the hand while in reverse, hammer or sabre grips. The "flipper" is really a finger guard- to minimze the fingers from potentially sliding onto the blade! CLB- corrections officer, martial practicitioner- well, you get the idea. Yes, it' s a utility folder. ;)

The trance is a superb knife and for the price it can't be beat.

The blade is really thin AUS8 and super sharp. Feels really good in the hand and I think the half G10 half steel handle is cool.

I' m quite sure it' s actually FRN (zytel) :o

Glad I could help Realitycheck. Just an idea - the washers are cheap. Buy a few extra in case one gets accidentally bend / damaged during installation (of course that did not happen to me:foot:) or if you happen to pick up additional Trances (the black blade version is now calling my name).

Have fun!

Thanks Neal, I appreciate it. Your tip is way more helpful than mine, the washers I use are just a little larger in diameter (almost too large^^).

Take care,

Hey guys I got to looking at the boker trance last night and for thirty bucks I just couldnt stand it. I had to order it. So while i'm waiting for it.
What is so special about this knife for you guys? Why do you like it so much?
Thanks

Aloha realitycheck,

:D...mahalo for your interest in the Trance. Which one did you order BTW, the Drop Point or the Original model?

I cannot really add much to what has been said, aside from one of my peers used to throw his Trance into things on a daily, I gotta admit I did it several times also. Still in top shape and the edge can get lightsaber "sharp"...there was a vid on YouTube of a guy whittling a strand of hair with one!!!
Granted the ala Carson flipper takes a bit more wrist snap, but it also acts a a guard to protect your digits. Opening via the studs matches Auto speed and the inventor of the SOG Revolver, Mr. Robbie Roberson stated that the Trance had the most accurately placed thumbstuds he ever experienced on a folder. Wow...

Price point is excellent, and it is a durable knife that's easy to maintain and it's "expendable"...I hope you will experience what many Trance owners have: It out performs it's price, and can be addictive.;)

God bless and keep us posted!
Mahalo everyone!!!

Wow what a great place, where the creator of the knives will come and talk to you about them. I really like this community. Anyway, chad i'm still awaiting the arrival of the trance. I cant wait though. With all the great info i've received about this knife and all the positive feedback. I'm really excited about this one. Right now my favorite edc's are the thin and light ones. It appears your's is at the top of the class in this area. So again, I cant wait to get this knife. I will report a review of it once it is received. I know there are plenty of them out there, but surely one more cant hurt, :) Oh and chad I ordered the original model. It just looked way cooler to me.

Alright guys I got my trance in last night. I played with it all last night, went downstairs shortly after and touched up the edge on the paper wheels. The edge polished up wonderfully, and is very sharp. Like I like em, :) I love how thin this knife is and lightweight, like you guys said. What a great knife for thirty bucks. I'm very very happy with it so far. Tonight I changed out the washers to the bronze ones. They just came in tonight. They really increased the ability to use the flipper and made opening it alot easier. Heres a disassembled pic.

hay "realitycheck" did you put a different blade on that? cause it doesn't look like the drop point version, yet it has only two screws....the drop point has two screws, and the other version has three???

The Trance can be had with a drop point or clip point. The pic Realitycheck posted is the clip point version. A very attractive blade shape:thumbup:.

A very attractive shape indeed. I've been using it since I got it. I was putting a timing belt on a toyota today and needed a funnel of sorts for the coolant when i pulled the water pump out. I whipped out the trance and sliced up some cardboard and made a small slide/chute for the coolant to go into the bucket.
The trance sliced through the cardboard box better than a box cutter. Seriously! I really like this knife. Tempting to buy another to just have. Or to give as gifts.

Oh and I thought I would show you guys the boker that made me want to get another, and the reason I got the trance. This boker is very old I dont know how old but it came from my grandfather. I'm assuming it was an old hawkbill that the tip got broke off but I'm not sure if anyone knows anything about it please feel free to let me know.
