I have seen some of Boker Tree brand slipjoints with carbon cteel blades and stag and bone handles, and theyre beautiful on pictures. How is the quality of these knives, and performance, and hhow does it compare to Case and Buck traditionals(theyre only traditional slipjoints that I have).Should I get Tree brand Trapper,or should I just buy something from Case? How is edge holding in Boker tree brand slipjoints, they use 1075 carbon and some kind of stainless.?thanx for reply!

The German made carbon ones I have/had, Pen, Stockman large&Medium, Whittler, Congress, Lockback, Copperhead have ALL been extremely good, well finished, tight and take and hold a good edge. Quite frankly, much better than the CASE average, a genuine bargain.

Large Stockman, Whittler, Smooth Bone Medium Stockman

Boker knives, the ones made in Gsrmany, are great!!!

I've long loved the model 240 pen, and once gifted mine off, thinking I would just get another. I didn't know the they had been discontinued. A very generous forum member Oldtimer, AKA George, gifted me a replace, meant, and it gets carries and used with much love. Outstanding little knife. I say this as a longtime aficionado of the peanut.

The carbon steel holds a very sharp egg for a very god amount to time. The fit and finish of the rosewood scales tot he nickel silver bolsters is perfect. If you had a chance to get a German made Boker, do it.

Terrific knives, I especially like the beer barrel series:thumbup: Their C75 carbon steel is really great and the finish, as mentioned above, is top notch!

Yes,these are german made, some in carbon and some in stainless.,was thinking of getting Case but will get one of these instead!

I have a couple more recent Boker traditionals (both German made). They're well done. I've found this barlow that was released this year to be particularly tempting. I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I might. No tree stamp on the bolster but bog oak covers.

I'll chime in to agree. Bökers are great.
Just make sure they are marked "Solingen" on the tang and shield. This means it's a knife made in Germany. If it only says "Germany", then they are a hybrid production:some parts and assembly done in China. (not that those are necessarily bad knives, but not the same quality)

I've had two of the Solingen made single blade trappers and for the money they were excellent. Good F&F, steel held a good edge, and easy to maintain.

I would agree with everybody else so far about the Solingen made Bokers. They don't get the hype here that GEC and Case do, but they make high quality knives. I believe the carbon steel they use is actually C75.

I really like the looks of that one... a nice modernish take on a great traditional model IMHO. Is this a carbon steel version? What is the approximate street price of this guy? (Can I ask that?) lol

I agree with everyone that the quality of German made Boker Tree Brand knives are great. At least in my experience.

The ones that are assembled in Germany from Chinese parts look great too,and have decent price.Does anyone have one of these, and how is the steel on those?I found a trapper made in Solingen Germany, with solingen on shield, and in c75 carbon steel and will probably get it.handle is stag.Gec knives that I like are just sold out,and cant find them online. If anyone knows good place to get GEC knives, please send me message,Im located in Canada so ordering might be little tricky with shipping charges and custom fees. This Boker I can pick up in person ,but am wondering how is quality of other trree brand bokers as they look beautiful.

This Boker belonged to my late grandfather. It was my first whittler pattern and it fits together very well. Just as good as Case's best knives.

I have a couple of vintage USA made Barlows really good knives one however has never been out of the package but I'm sure it's fine. I also have a couple of newer ones that don't have anything but Boker and the tree logo on the tang so not sure but would guess they are made in China, Good knives as well.

It's 440C, like the Trapper that Blades&Wrenches picked up this afternoon (nice, by the way). It's about $70.

the ones with 440c are solingen made i guess, but ones with no markings of steel are assembvled in Germany but parts are chinese.Ill get German One first, but Chinese knives have good fit and finish and are beautifull too.......

I carried a Solingen Boker 8288SS red bone pen knife daily for nearly ten years. It's an excellent knife.
