One of my favorite knives is my modified clip blade Boker Barlow:



I just bought a spare, a nos spear version:



I think I'll be on the lookout for a sheepsfoot now.
I just don't understand why Boker isn't making these anymore. Same deal with Case. Don't they know that Barlows are the hot trend these days?

I have had several Böker knives over the years. My first was this trapper:


I recently acquired an anniversary trapper, more expensive than their regular knives (but still less than a similar GEC) with african blackwood scales and 440C blades:


I had a rosewood/C75 stockman that I sold, but miss...maybe I'll get a replacement some day. Overall the German made Bökers have good fit and finish. I believe that they also made a lot of the Henckels slipjoints after Henckels stopped making their own. I had a Henckels copperhead that was most likely a Böker product.

I believe that if the tang stamp has the full Böker Solingen Germany it is a fully German-made knife.

I apologize in advance if this is a bit off topic, but what about Boker knives under the "United" brand? I see many on the auction site that carry the Solingen/Germany tang stamp. Does anyone know if these are of the same quality as Boker-branded Solingens?

I only have one, so it's hardly a good statistical sample, but it's as well made as the other Bokers.



I also have a few Boker USAs that I think were made just before the changes in ownership, and they are also good knives. Maybe a little bit less finely fitted as the German ones.

Thanks for the input, r8shell! I haven't any Bokers (except for one modern one-hander) but I'm intrigued.

I did! It makes a great knife into an excellent knife.!

Anything Solingen made is good quality, but the older ones are usually even better built. This large stockman made in 1974 is just beautiful, and maybe has the nicest bone on any knife I own.

Beautiful knife Black Mamba. I like Boker knives and have a few. I agree with everyone that they are good quality and value. This stockman was made in 1973 and has Boker and J Wiss shields. The latter was the New Jersey based company owning the Boker USA name and trademark at the time.

Nice, s-k. I really like the generous trapezoidal long pull on both our clip mains, they give great control of the blade.

They are beautiful, well priced, and quite attractive. I just can't get myself past jigged covers; I need to look at smooth wood or hope for some kind of micarta future, I suppose.

In my experience, yes it does. Others may find otherwise of course.

Böker Tree Brand are nicely made knives. And the C75 is properly hardened. So it will keep the edge for a long while.

I have say, that these knives are (?) made here in Germany. But only made for the US-market, maybe Australia as well. A strange story I have tell... I wrote a long time ago an email to Böker if they could get one sold. As it would be much easier to get a german made knife in Germany. But they told me not to do that - overseas market only. That made a little disturbed. But that´s how it goes.

I finally got my paws on one of the very well made splitspring whittlers by our friend Will Power. It is such an amazing knife. Really like it.

And to me, they are definitelly traditional.
