(Thanks.)

I've only recently become fascinated with Whittlers, but already know I like Bokers. The beer-barrel wood has always piqued my curiosity as well. Add in the knife's provenance, and... I'm really looking forward to having this one here.

Tyler, I responded to your PM almost before I finished reading it (heh). Let me know if you didn't receive it.

Congratulations, Sarah. There is much to recommend a whittler like that one. I'm sure you will like it and possibly want more...

The Boker Whittler arrived today, along with a surprise gift from Tyler:

Thanks, Tyler-- your handiwork makes an already great gift even more special. :)

This is a super-fine knife. The serpentine handle combines with the blade spine profiles to render it comfortable no matter which blade is being used.

Clip, pen, coping-- fantastic selection:

The Beer Barrel covers feel smoother than they appear (no "catches" anywhere), with their interesting texture making for a good grip.

(Does anyone know what type of wood beer barrels are typically made from, that this might be? Oak?)

Whittler construction: this knife has the double-springs-supporting-the-main-blade that defines it as a whittler. Yet, unlike others I've seen, there is no wedge separating the springs near the secondary blades (there's a wedge between the blades, but not the springs). The knife still widens out slightly at the double-bladed end, but remains nicely streamlined. The tapers at each bolster are a nice touch.

I'm thrilled that you like it Sarah! It was only appropriate to throw in a carving with a whittler

Tyler,
thank you for your generosity, and congrats to Sarah for her lucky win.
The "extra" looks awesome too :p
As for the Boker, I do believe that it's oak. I really wish Boker offered more patterns with this handle material
