Boker tree brand

The Böker carbon knives I have, Stockmans, Canoe, Whittlers, Congress, and lock back all have H.Böker, Solingen, Germany on them as does the Penknife in stainless, they have shields featuring the famous Böker Chestnut tree Tree Brand, as referenced in Spanish on the Argentina made Bökers.

I don't know about the Chinese made/assembled knives but I find the Bökers I have to be really good carbon bladed Traditionals, the Whittler is a real gem.

So, if it says Germany, it's made in China. If it says Solingen, then it's made in Germany. If it says Arbolito, then it's made in Argentina.

But I have one with a bit of a twist. This full size Hunter is blade etched with "Arbolito Especial", and made in Solingen.

If it says Made in Solingen you can be fairly sure that is actually is. You can look up the "Solingen-Verordnung" in regards to that.

With arbolito I'm not too sure; I thought that was a factory in spain.

If I recall correctly, the parts are made elsewhere, but the knife is assembled in Germany if the shield says Germany. If the shield says Solingen, the entire knife is made in Germany.
Thank you for this information. Now I have a better idea of what I need to look for.

I can never pass up a Boker thread. I hate Bokers, I love Bokers, I hate Bokers, I love Bokers,
Allow me to elaborate.
Ever since I saw the Boker Large Stockman in smooth deep red bone . . . I HAD TO HAVE ONE ! ! ! !
Then I ordered one.
I got this.
Top knife in the photo.

I almost sent it back then got to looking at it (and the price of it). A great knife ! ! ! Really nice in
everyway . . . for me it is perfect . . . not being too technical about flush springs and all, even though it is good that way. Sure if I paid three hundred dollars, or more, I would be all about it but for eighty or ninety dollars I can let some little things slide generally speaking.
So I kept the knife and ordered another Large Sockman in deep red smooth bone.
What I got was so bad in so many ways I won't list them here.
I sent it back.
In the mean time I ordered and got the green and black feather jigged bone Medium Stockman shown in the first photo. I love this knife; the look of the handle, the blade etching is super nice. The pull on the blade springs is like bordering on too stiff; when I close it everydody in the room will look at me like : well what are you doing over there.

I ordered a second Deep Red Bone Stockman (or third depends on how you look at it).
It was crap too and I sent it back. Seriously . . . just not good in several ways.

Time goes by and I bought other Bokers, but just could not let go of the idea of the Deep Red Bone Stockman and finally got it up enough to go again.
Finally the one I got last at least looked like the photo in the catalog . . . that's a start right ?
The edge hit on the inside of the knife quite badly and left big flat spots on the freshly sharpened edge . . . . :( :( :(
I finally fixed it with lots of modding. I tell you I was just obsessed at that point . . . crazy for this knife. I mean what is it going to take to get one ? ? ? . . . do I have to go mine the iron ore myself and smelt it or just what do I have to do to get this standard, everyday, inexpensive, production knife ? ? ?

And here it is. My baby.

All these three Boker Tree Brand folders are marked the same on the blade :
Boker
Solingen
Germany

I take that back, the green and black one is marked
H. Boker
& co
Solingen
Doesn't mean much in practice. It's a crap shoot.
Good luck
On the same note I have heard people say they have gotten questionable Case knives.
I have a coal shovel full I can show you and not a one has any mechanical problems at all as far as too stiff or too weak springs and not a one has blade rap (flat spot on edge from hitting inside when closed). The dye can be a bit weak on the bone that is ALL.
Same with Swiss Army knives; half the cost of the Bokers with more blades and even more consistent build quality than anyone else on the planet period.

I didn't know anything about Boker knives but I did pick this up at a local gun/knife show last weekend, the dealer said it was confiscated at Hoover Damn security. Its a 8313 USA Boker Splitback Whittler. The delrin covers are in great shape and look more natural, which I really like these more than the brown delrin on case knives. I got for a $25.00 but I had no idea if it was worth more or not but it is a great little knife. It has been in my pocket ever since. I took it home scrubbed it with dish soap, flitzed, and oiled it up. The walk and talk is perfect, it reminds me of case xx knives with a loud "snap". Absolutely solid, no wobble. Blade pulls are a 6/7 which are perfect for me. I tried to do some research online about this but there is very little, I do know it was made in the seventies though. Its a great knife which I will be paying more attention to Boker pocket knives from now on.

Love those split back whittlers. One of my favorite patterns.--KV

I want in on this thread. There is a strong chance that my next knife will be a Tree Brand.

So if I understand this correctly the knives with "Germany" shields are ASSEMBLED in Germany from Chinese parts, correct? These are current production and around $30.

I'm not able to locate a Germany shield in my collections, but I was under the impression that they were fully made in China. But the Germany shield is just in reference to the company headquarter location. So....Marketing. If someone knows for sure, please correct me if wrong. I'll keep looking for my sample. I think I only have one. Though I have a ton of Boker Plus's that I'm fairly satisfied with.
