Hey gentlemen, here is another noob-sounding question while I sit in my office and think about better things.

I want to get a camping woods knife, and am looking at the Cheaper than Dirt Rough Use knives. Do you guys reckon the Classic (which is a big bowie) or Bolo would be more useful overall? Seems like the bolo would only be good for chopping. I've never used a larger blade out in the woods at all, instead using small saws and/or hatchet. These guys are both 13.5" long total.

A good big Bowie knife is FAR more versatile in the woods than any of those exotic blade types.

This is cheap Chinese production and these knives may disintegrate during heavy use. If you insist I'd go with Classic.

I know people have mixed feelings about knifetest, but the Classic that he destroyed performed amazingly well, lasting right up to the final side-impact hammer test. He said it didn't chop too well, but it was tough as nails, structure-wise and edge-retention-wise. Pretty impressive for $100, let alone $10. I bet quality control can't be too awesome at that price point though, so maybe its hit or miss.
