Bolster replacement?

Welcome to the psycho ward, Dave!:D These are a great bunch of guys and very happy to teach you all they know.

If any of you ever have a chance to attend an HI convention you'll meet is person some of the Earths' finest creatures.

Dave, no hard feelings here. I've found myself in this :footinmou position a time or two myself, there's no shame in it. Glad to hear you like your khuk better with some more understanding, what model did you get incidentally? Don't be a stranger, there's some nasty things that hide under rocks, we wouldn't want you to be mistaken for one of them!

As fine a job of give and take as anyone could hope for. It's wonderful to see so many genuinely good and well mannered people (not to mention great senses of humour) in one place.

Thanks.

Thank you all very much!

The understanding, comradery, and especially patience... this forum is a credit to the internet community. I'm overwhelmed by the sheer generousity you guys have shown me!

Hard feelings? nah! In fact it's me who should be asking that there be none.

A little backgrounder, I got a water buffalo horn handled, steel bolstered, WWII 18" by Bura. I don't think I need to go into just how extraordinarily impressed I am. She's the absolute, perfect balance of chopping and agility. Not to mention the sheer beauty and craftmanship. Guys, I feel sorta feverish... like, I have this desire, nay, need to procure more of these works of art.

I need more dammit!

Uncle Bill: Sorry to have brought this rant to the forum. Do people really address you as Uncle Bill?

lastly, on a side note, I wrote back to the forumite (who is part of another forum) and apologized.

Thanks guys!

I've got a crack too, my maker left it there, glad he didn't fix it or I'd be full of sh!&.

I could send you some superglue and a stick of laha. :D ;)

I guess it's better to learn the hard way than to stuff the knife in a drawer thinking it's broken.

Hey Dave, I'm part of this forum too :)

I'm glad things worked out in the end...please take good care of that khuk. It will serve you well, methinks.

An 18" horn handled WWII by Bura with steel bolsters?! On second thought, it sounds like that khuk is damaged beyond easy repair, I'll take it off your hands for $20 and try to salvage it if I can. JK, that sounds like my dream khuk, I'm sure it will serve you very very well in the years to come (and your kids and their kids, etc.). Nice catch!

Welcome Dave, and please don't feel to bad. I didn't realize what the seam was at first either, although I did see that the bolster was tight.

Perfectly described symptoms of HIKV.

Kmark, that WWII wouldn't happen to be the one you special ordered late 2001 would it be?:eek: Say it ain't so. If it is, that is one SWEET Blade you have Dave Hahn.:D Honestly, I've been coveting Kmarks Special order WWII ever since you got it.:o and secretly wanted it if it ever went up for sale.

Dave Hahn, welcome to the forums. I have a Bura made 16.5" WWII with a horn handle and love it. You sure did pick a good one for your first. May I suggest an 18" to 20" Bura made Sirupati to go along with your WWII. They too are SWEET!:D

Hi Dave,

I can understand your first post and feelings of frustration. I am glad you came here to ask your question. Now you see our fine collection of people, have met Uncle Bill, and have been offered the wealth of info this community has available and readily shares.

It's a good thing you came this way, and we're glad to add another Khukaholic Nonanonymous member to the club :)

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the Cantina. All is forgiven and forgotten. Though if you snake a UBBB out from under someone's nose we may bring this back up again. ;)

Sorry man, it is that very blade. I don't use it to cut trees and brush anymore, seeing as I live in the city now, and it didn't do much sitting on my desk.

Welcome to the Cantina.....I think. Your lack of knowledge regarding khukuri construction can be remedied, but your manners do you no credit.
Sarge

I disagree, take a look at his original post, He's only venting about his anger concerning his situation, he's not pointing fingers at anyone, except an unnamed forumite. Personally, I'm REALLY glad you took the time to ask here, rather than through accusations around, now that's bad manners. Thanks for asking, and welcome aboard.

All's fair in love, war, and UBBB's.

;)

Hey, Dave. Welcome.

You've already seen that this is a great place to hang out. Very little you can't find out by asking here, on- or off-topic.
