[I'm a bit sensitive to people getting into panics, as that gives the bad guys incredible power. It's almost as easy to make loud noises as it is to send floods of white powder through the mail--talk about possibilities for misdirection and causing the opponent to waste resources]

In the time frame that we grew up in, there were very few gangs, none where I grew up. No TV to learn bad habits from, and In my case a grandfather that would have beat me half to death for getting such ideas in the first place.
Even when TV came along there was very little time for such things. There are so many that think a couple of swats across the rear is abuse, but I very much disagree. I know what abuse is and I have been there. There is still a good place for the switch once in a while.
The biggest problem with this country isn't all the so called nuts that own guns. The Family has been undermined by all the governments City, County, State, and Federal. They won't allow a parent to discipline the kids properly so what can be done? Now they talk of fighting crime and they are the cause of it.
Looks to me like the whole bunch should be fired and start all over.

Evening all. With regard to the snipers I personally think that those responsible are doing it for "kicks". I don't know if they think they won't get caught, if they just want to instill fear, or if they want to be famous (read infamous)? Who ever it is when and if they are caught death is to good for them. And age should have NO bearing on punishment. In my opinion if they are old enough to commit these crime then they are old enough to face the results of them.
With regard to the bombing I originally told you about the news last night again stated that it was a "pipe bomb" made with black powder and could have killed someone. But the newspaper stated that it was made from carbon dioxied canisters so I suppose it's anyone's guess as to what it really was. Since it was so close to home I'm hoping for it to be a "stupid prank".

I didn't have a TV to watch until I was back from tour of duty in the Navy and then we got two stations. I remember watching the test pattern because that's all there was to watch. That says something about TV.
No, there were no gangs, no drugs, none of that stuff but plenty of guns and knives except we used them the way they are supposed to be used OR ELSE. And, Pappy, a good kick in the ass never hurt any kid as far as I know.

When I was a kid we didn,t have guns in our home, but we were taught not to touch them unless adults were present and never without permission. We also got our butt tanned when we deserved it and I'm glad my folks did it. We were also taught to take responsabilty for our actions. No one even thought of using a weapon to settle an argument we did it with bare knuckles. Times sure have changed. It's really a sad state of affairs.

We could go to the range or shoot skeet or hunt if we wanted to use them, and me and my bro could break down and clean a rife/shotgun/pistol before we graduated from Jr. High.
Irresponsible adults breed irresponsible children. Responsible adults breed responsible children.
