Bomb proof folder

honestly, sounds like a Stanley knife and a big box of replacement blades is the way to go for your stated usage.

if you're deadset against that concept, then consider an ESEE Izula or similar fixed blade. you can bash 'em all you like and you won't have blade-wobble problems.

if you're dead set on getting a folder, perhaps consider a Fallkniven U2 or PXL? both are in your price range.

myself, i'd go with the Stanley knife + blades. it'll take a lot of years of use before you rack up US$400 worth of blades.

I think a few people missed the point. I'm not looking to go carpet cutting everyday I'm not a carpenter. I just meant I WOULD PREFER if my knife needed to cut carpet it didn't develop blade play after ....10 feet of carpet. To end this thread I bought a strider SMF and I'm about to buy a PR-GG after that.

i'd hope that any half decent folding knife would be able manage those requirements.

You would think...... But yeah as I said my lousy leatherman wave's blades ate through 40-50 feet of carpet like no other.

Let's say I got $400 to spend.

Things I need
1. It's gotta withstand MONTHS of HARD USE, not abuse BUT HARD USE.
2. A sheath is a plus as I don't want $400 clipped to a pocket where someone could lift it or I could lose it.
3. A beast of a knife.
4. 4 INCH BLADE MAX, no more
5. It seems I'm asking for a strider........ But which one? Or maybe a ZT/Hinderer?
6. HUGE WARRANTY
7. NOT A CUSTOM.
8. VERY GOOD ergonomics, I gotta like using this expensive beast

I reccomend you (I am quite fond of them) the Extrema Ratio Fulcrum II T
It has got a N690 Cobalt Steel (58 HRC) 95mm long blade (3,7"), 6,3mm thick (0.248"), serrations on the first part of the blade, tanto blade end, MASSIVE locking system and safety, very heavy, extremely solid and built like a tank.

It fulfills your requirements at: 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8.

As per point 6: Extrema Ratio offers lifetime warranty (UNLIMITED), that means that they will replace it everytime it breaks (like for Surefire flashlights). And, you can always send it to them to have it factory re-sharpened for free!

As per point 3 and 8: it is a beast! :) and even if it is compact, you can use it to smash almost everything you want, and the tanto blade is super-strong.

But, if you don't like serrations, you can get the Fulcrum II D which has NO serrations and a Drop point blade.

cheers!

Just get a Buck 110.. good price, good sheath and built like the tank that detonated the land mine without breaking a tread

Decent idea, except I already bought a Strider SMF. That and I'm probably going for a rick hinderer XM-18 3.5" flipper next.

You won't be disappointed. My son (active duty Military) got one and they're built with the precision of a Sebenza but overbuilt like a tank. I got to play with it for 7 - 8 days, flip flip flip flip flip flip flip flip flip - what a blast! He's leaving with it in a few hours. :(

For a few more bucks you can get into a Demko custom: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=751198 / http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=734158
