Bomb Tech knife

I think that the wooden toogle is just a holder for a roll of tape. You just put the toogle through the tape rool and it is easy to get to. This is used on a lot of tool pouches. There is a lot of other stuff on the botten for a leg tie.

It could have been meant for either a tape holder or a buckle. I went with buckle because I figured the knife was already big and heavy enough without hanging more stuff off the end of the sheath.

I found another thread where the toggle was described as an electrical tape holder so maybe I'm wrong after all:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/385272-need-info-on-new-schrade-survival-knife?highlight=Schrade Survival

I am assuming you guys are thinking electrical tape. Is the diameter of the toggle correct for these rolls? If they fit perfectly it is likely a tape holder I'm thinking.

Maybe someone will find some Schrade paperwork describing the knife. I think we are left guessing until we do...

I thought I had a flyer for that knife, but I can't find it now. Maybe LRV has one somewhere in his stack of stuff.

Just revisiting my old thread.
Roland, Upstream is correct here and the proper use of the "toggle" is as a tape holder. When we used these it wasnt uncommon for us to have a roll or two of electrical tape hanging on them - personally i had electrical tape and the cloth style electrical tape - for use w/ electric blasting caps.

A little info on the sheath. I don't think this flyer was published. I cleaned up a bunch of editor pen marks.

Added a "blow up" of the Bomb Tech logo. :D

i like the look of the symbol for the bomb tech knife. now that would be a good thing to put on a hat. we need to find the rolls of these and have a give away.

Just so you know...that symbol is called the "crab". And it's acually a FBI symbol. Dont know if it's copywrited or whatever. The military's EOD symbol is similar but a little different.

Guys, I need your help. Circumstances dictate that I let this knife go. I don't want to break forum rules but is it possible to 'consign' this knife to a member/dealer in order to give a bladeforum member first crack at it? If that's against the rules, can anybody point me in the right direction regarding a site to try and sell it? Thanks, Randy

Edit: a website other than gunbroker, ebay etc

Randy, you can list it here on BF: "For Sale by Individuals" and although it's not really a traditional pattern, if you listed in the Traditionals for sale sub forum, those who collect Schrades are likely to see it.

Now i have a DBL2 to go with my Bomb Tech and Imperial M7-S. The flyer says "designed in collaboration with the military". The seller i bought this from said it belonged to a friend who was issued it (or bought in base store ?) while doing the 2 year Navy Seals Try-Out program. Note the sheath is military, not the original Schrade sheath, yet the fit is perfect.

These are really neat true "working" knives. I'm pleased i have them.

So there is a pouch for the stone on the back side of the plastic part of the sheath ? If you have a picture showing this i would be interested to see it.
roland

Looks like the stone sits high so that it does not need to be removed and the sheath then serves as something to grip as you sharpen. Very neat. Thanks for posting these pics.

I just placed my bomb tech knife on eBay. I retired this past November after 30 years in EOD. While I was in, I enjoyed collecting knives, but the wife sees them hanging around now, and is bugging me to thin the collection.

[Ebay sales link removed]
