Bombs detonate in London

If Londoners could withstand Hitler, what will some cowardly little rats do to them? Nada.

Nice one! Puts things in perspective. London will prevail.

CNN today showed someone who had been injured by one of the blasts. It looked rather serious, blood on his face, nasty scalp wound and all---the guy was speaking to the reporter as if he was not bothered at all by any of it. Calm, cool, collected, stiff upper lip and all that.

Historically, doubting Britain's courage in the face of adversity has not proven to be a wise course of action.

It is only fairly recently that the UK has been more or less rid of the IRA's acts like this. They have a lot more experience than most with this kind of thing. I have no fear that England and the English citizens are well equipped to deal with terrorism. Stay strong and my thoughts and prayers go out for the victims.

I was a moderator on a British knifeforum a few years ago(after 9/11), and a couple of arrogant swine started the "well you deserved it" routine. One of the arrogant pukes later came here for awhile and trolled, but was banned, or driven off.
I said that I hope they have the same simple minded attitude when it happens there, and they laughed at me. I wonder if they're laughing now?:(

A frind of mine over there wrote me this morning and said London is at a standstill, and at least 7 bombs have gone off, killing at least 7 people, injuring scores.

Her nephew was in the middle of one such, and got covered in blood. He couldn't get to work, so had to get a room at a nearby hotel to clean up, and quit shaking. Said the scenes of people torn apart, a couple with their faces hanging off, or gone was pretty bad.

Thoughts & Prayers for the Citizens of London. I have friends there & no way to contact them right now. Awful feeling.
Maximus, it must be hard to watch your former comrades hard at work in times like these.
No person or place is safe anymore. We stand with you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the injured and their families of these cowardly attacks.

Come on Mike, you know how we dealt with those comments at British Blades. We refused to tolerate that behaviour then and we refuse to tolerate it now.

But this is Bladeforums ;)

Anything any of us here can do to help?

This about sums it up for me:

The bombs go off and most people will assume that Muslims did it. So the Muslim leadership in the UK is worried about backlash, worried about themselves.

An American is worried about his friends over there, so a man in England wants to help him.

It reminds me of Winston Churchill in Russia during WW II, seeing people lined up in the cold and the snow to buy something. When he found out it was ice cream, he said, these people will never be defeated.

...when he found out it was ice cream he said these people will never be
defeated....

That's funny. :D

I guess Oprah doesn't translate into British.

Napolean derided the English by calling them a "nation of shop keepers." He found out just how tough and determined those "shop keepers" could be. Hitler learned the same lesson. Whoever set off those bombs today will undoubtably learn as well.

I am not trying to be intentionally inflamatory, but there is increasing evidence* that George Bush II and Tony Blair purposely picked a fight with Iraq even thought they had no real justification. Unfortunately, the people who suffer the consequences are soldiers from the US, Britian, and other countries, and increasing numbers of civilians.

*before calling me a traitior, telling me to leave the country, or whatever else you can think of, read the "Downing Street Memo" in the The Sunday Times.: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-1593607_1,00.html

Best wishes from Oz to the British. You've seen worse and it hasn't stopped you. If the cowardly scum who set off the bombs, (whoever they are), think this will change anything or even seriously disturb the British they have very seriously miscalculated. Hang in there guys, the sane part of the world is on your side!

I wasn't inferring you allowed or in any way made those remarks, and I know you were upset about them, but a couple of people did make them.

One of them later showing up here and becoming very unpopular right after his first post. It went downhill from there.

My prayers for the wounded, and condolences to those who had relatives killed.
This sort of thing should not happen anywhere, and I don't want you to think I meant it should.

Innocent people don't deserve murder because of some quasi religious bigots.

My prayers out to all that are traumatized, victims and the families, in the blasts in London today. Yes, London has been an "epicenter" of terrorist activity over the last few decades, but it doesn't get easier. If there is something we can do....... :(

He who warns is excused.

This line from the statement made by the terrorist group claiming responsiblity truly sends chills down my spine. Irregardless of violent interpretation of religion, seethingly blind hatred or whatever else drives these terrorists, those words above- or rather, the thought behind them- give the terrorists carte blanche to do whatever to whomever they want.

I try to be reasonable and calm, rational. I think that we all should walk a more virtuous road than this scum. But at times like this, at 2 in the morning, all I can think is that we're better off killing them all.

Prayers for London. I think the terrorists will find that, just like with the USA, all their actions have accomplished is royally pissing off a(nother!) sleeping bear.

A sad and appalling event. Prayers out to the ones who have been lost and the others who are still suffering.

I truly believe that people who set out to do such evil things in this world walk a path that eventually leads directly to their own untimely demise. What goes around, comes around. Hopefully they'll be judged in this world and if not, then certainly in the next.

All my best goes out to the people of London, and all of Brittain. You Brits are tough people. I admire you for the fact that for quite a long time in the beginning of WWII you guys single handedly held off the Nazis by yourselves with very little in the way of help, while we here in the States were dithering with the pacifist isolationists concerning entering the war. Sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it? Not the same, but similar. There are always those goofball idiots who would rather pacify evil than fight it. A few evil people with hate in their hearts can never keep you English down. Cheers!
