Hi,

Bone, it's what for scales tonight!:) A really nice collection Dennis. I'm digging the Congress myself. Though I like all of them.

Looks like Curly Bill Brocius and some of his cowboys leaning on the fence rail waiting to hurl some epithets at the Earp brothers. ;)

Nice collection, Dennis.

SWEET!

You have most excellent taste in cutlery.
Hardly a secret, but I still had to state it.

Do you mean that Curly Bill Brocius and some of his cowboys has a bone to pick with Earp Bros?

blues as usual is the poet of the forum. he along with esav has a command of language possessed that we are fortunate to witness in this forum. their art in language is certainly a stellar experience for a bunch of knifenuts. i'm really glad to see a more active role by blues [elliot] to enrich this forum.my english is barely intelligable so i hope to learn from all our contributors. if i stopped to get the dictionary for my spelling i'd never finish a post. i certainly appreciate the levity of our members. thanks dennis.

Wow, after listening to that mellifluous torrent (reminiscent of Hedley Lamarr), all I've got to say is...

(Thanks for the kind, if undeserved, sentiments, Dennis.)

I do indeed, Neeman. And it may well lead to the boneyard!!! ;)

Give a dog a bone:D

I thought I knew something about GEC's use of bone, but that Antique Walnut and the Appalosa made me gape:eek: That Appalosa looks like some type of smoothed stone or mineral it's magnificent!

willgoy you are astute in your description of the appaloosa bone. it certainly does look like a mineral substance, surprised you can see it that well from my pic.latham said the follow up batch of this bone was nothing like the 1st series.i got lucky in getting 2 of them since we may not see any more. i bought the toenail for that shield since only a monster knife could take that much metal & still look decent. later i may show the bone only side since this antique walnut is really striking. thanks for the input.

GEC does do a really nice job on their bone. I like that they offer a variety of vibrant colors as well as more traditional ones, and several jigging patterns.

GEC calls it Cameo bone
It is so perfect in its simplicity
This slight pink tint in the plain bone and now it shows the grain of the bone from useage

neeman this white bone is really beautifal especially from a collectors view. the exe whitt in white bone is a show stopper. it seems this type bone requires more prep work since the white bone usually is more expensive than the jigged.

Dennis, I believe you are right about smooth bone in white. It has to be prepared more and any gross imperfections are likely to show. Whilst I like jigged bone a lot, when you think about it, it could be masking a horde of imperfections or even cracks....!
White bone (and most smooth bone too) certainly seems to take on an interesting colour spectrum, a kind of bone patina if you like.
