Book on blade steel?

Can anyone recommend a book that will teach me about various kinds of steel... tool steel, stainless, damascus, etc. I am a collector of knives, not a knifemaker, but I want to learn more about steel so I know at least a little bit about what you guys are talking about

There isn't really a book that I would say ideally fits your level of knowledge as well as what you're looking for.

You can call your Crucible steel area representative, they put out a great publication on the steels they make.

It has been my experience that the Crucible engineers are super helpful with info...I just call and ask. And with new steels and research.. you can get the latest.

Their fact sheets are reallly good also..
