Bookie's Guest

I kind of figured Russia would be a no go for mailing stuff. I could feel it in my cells.

Black hole is probably an accurate description. I suspect he probably would have gotten grief if he slipped on in his baggage on their end too.

Oh well, it was a great idea that wasn't worth a damn.

Yeah mate, those pistol rounds are sure different, never seen any like em. I bought the pistol not really intending to ever shoot it.

I did some grips or something for a guy and darned if he didn't send me a couple hundred rounds for it so I shot some.

It's kind of cool. I like different, weird, old stuff, just goes so well with my different, weird, old personality I guess.

Here are four pics of Andrey's visit and the last ones which I will post. The first is of him trying his hand at engraving.

The next 3 are in the blacksmith shop while he was making the grip rail of his trigger guard.

The fire stays primarily in that center area because that is where the air is pushed in? More air the hotter and larger area would be burning?

I didn't know you were an engraver too, learn something new everyday. Often wished I'd learned that in my youth, be fun.

I'd be sweating bullets beating on somebodies pride and joy with an hammer and pointy thing though.

I am guessing Andrey got a first class education in BSing... and he appears to have learned something about BlackSmithing too. :D Honestly if that is his first time pounding on red hot metal then he not only had a darned good teacher but he has some inate talent too. I hope he enjoyed his time, it sounds like you got as much into the hours he was here as could humanly be done. Too bad he didn't join us here so he could show us pictures of his continued work towards completing his own Dirty Natasha.

Bawanna, that is in really great shape. Most of those revolvers I have seen in person have been horribly treated and look it. That one looks like someone actually cared for it. And getting a bunch of rounds for it in trade is really fun. I don't think I have ever seen that round for sale anywhere so surprising but cool that you got them. Looks great with the others in that display. Now you need a Webley to pair up with it in the display :D

that is one hell of a nice pistol, same with shavru, i have never seen one in good condition like that , I think i have seen rounds like that for the silenced soviet revolver

I've seen the ammo at shows-it's not cheap though. Couple of places make
conversion cylinders for various .32's.

The Nagant was used by Soviet secret police with suppressors with that ammo. That was actually the standard issue ammo for the Nagant revolver.

Awesome info Scara, I didn't know the Nagant were the same ones they used with the suppressors. I thought it might be a different revolver because I have never seen a threaded Nagant. I do so enjoy the discussions here, I learn something new all the time.

Apparently the first suppressed Nagants were made for recon units, and the different Soviet secret police used them, frequently with a cut-down barrel. I imagine they threaded on rather than attempting to use any more complicated methods.
