My younger brother is an extremely talented artist and I'm trying to get him to try his hand at scrimshaw and engraving, are there any books you guys would recommend? Thanks in advance.

I read this one, enjoyed it, and thought it seemed like a good technical manual for starting to learn the art. The book is a good production with lots of good pictures of amazing work.

It would be super cool if he would get into engraving... in that case, I own James Meeks' book "The Art of Engraving" and I can attest that it is quite a good resource, and filled with a lot of inspiration. A little expensive though.
