Boonie Hat?

My last "Tilley" came from a street vendor with a sidewalk stand here in NYC: same general size and style and all of $10.00. Can not argue with that!

I have a Tilley T5 and it's a great hat. I just spent a week rafting Desolation Canyon in Utah in 100+ degree weather with my new Riverz Scout, and I like it even better. It looks like straw, but is made of woven polypropalene "tech straw". Wide brim makes for a lot of cooling shade, lets breezes through, and comes in various styles. My brother (20+ years professional guiding) recommended the Scout, since larger brims tend to flop in high winds. Riverz also makes hats with narrower brims. One model even looks like a cowboy hat. An off-duty park ranger wore one on the trip. Here's a link:

They list two dealers at the bottom of the page, but you can google other dealers.

I really like my Tilley hats. The cotton cavas wicks sweat away for evaporative cooling and the nylon sheds water like a small umbrella.

Highly recommended.
