Been there, done that - I find it of limited functionality.
Uncomfortable unless you have the right sort of boot, and if you have your trouser leg covering the knife it makes it kinda awkward to deploy in a hurry - unless you're sitting at a card table with the hilt exposed.
If you wear long pants and want to ankle carry it's easier to deploy if you have the knife hilt down in a friction retention (kydex) sheath, but you still have to raise a leg or kneel down before you can pull the knife out
