This one was last weeks project.
4 1/2" 1095 blade 9" OAL
blade is ground only on the front side with the back side remaining flat, the handle on the back only has a small bow ground in.
stainless hardware on Black Walnut.

Let me know what you don't like about it.
in the picture of the back side looks like scratches in the blade but they are NOT there.

Thanks Mike

I like it.. Great symmetry! I remember that grinding my first ( and only) dagger was a real challenge...

Cheers Rody

There's just something about boot knives... I always kinda wondered why they never got the same kind of cult following that bowies or switchblades have...
I'm just about to throw together my second kit boot knife, it's an OK blade but you know how it is: the handle's not quite right, the balance is a little off... anyone got a link on grinding daggers?

Great design to have the flats on one side, handle too. Thats the "Real Deal". Oh nice work too.

I think that design is half the fun. When I draw something up I will leave it setting on the dinning table for about a week so I get a chance to see it a couple times a day to make changes in the drawing.
After that I will try and make it.

I find that I will draw a knife design several several times before I will try to hammer it out.

My thinking is this:

I draw the knife to give myself a very good mental image of where all of the lines need to be. The more definite mental picture I have going into it the easier it is to get the final product I want.

I need to get to the point where I can draw the entire knife out on a blank piece of paper and not have to erase anything or fudge any lines. THEN I'm ready to start hammering.

Thats a very nice little knife Mike! Very nice!

And a +1 on drawing. Drawing is more about seeing than skill with paper and a pencil. I have been thinking about doing a thread just about drawing. I think it could be quite helpfull.

Mike I am not suprized to learn you drew this knife before you made it. It really does look great. IT looks 100% on purpose. Design and exicution are both spot on.

Thanks to all for the comments.
This is what I am talking about on the drawing. This is my next project.
