This is one stout folder, as most Bose/Case yearly issues usually are, and this is maybe even a bit stouter than most, well except maybe the lock back whittlers. This one is from 2011 series, antique bone it's called, while the jigging is excellent, I will warn you, if you have one you will want to scrub the scales a bit before pocket carry as the dye they use on there can rub off, I've washed this one a bit and it's seems to have calmed down in that respect.

Measuring approx. 3 1/2" closed and thickness wise just over 1/2" thick from scale side to scale side. I don't have a scale to weigh it on, but she's a chunky delight. With the wrap around liner for the pin blade it adds to the weight. At first I was put off from it's chunkiness, but have come to appreciate it's weight and size. Been using her at work, very handy both main and pen blades and they both took an exceptional edge on that 154cm steel.

As you may think that I made a typo on the title of the thread, I have always felt better putting the Bose name ahead of the Case name...just because.

Thanks again Tony for these great knives you help Case to put out each year!

Here are some images of the knife, and a knife purse, which I do have a permit to use, signed by Tony too. It makes it easier to get to, especially when seated. Plus it helps to keep the gunk out of the knife too.

a nickel for size reference, it's a fairly thick folder for being so narrow

and it's always nice to see this on the tang of your blade, even if it's a Collab, still it brings a smile to your face ;)

Great pictures Gary! This collaboration between Bose & Case is one of the best they've done IMHO. Here's the ebony model that I'll carry from time to time. I've also a bone model like yours that I keep tucked away for a rainy day. :)

Just a terrific knife and a great daily carry. Good stuff! ****Liking that sheath btw.

I have owned this knife and several other coffin jacks. You have a beauty there Gary. I must beg to differ on the "stoutness" though, I found the spear to be the most svelte of any spear I've ever used. In fact, I'd call it slim. A very robust blade yes, but not stout. But, semantics aside, the coffin is one sweet pattern, that I think many would like to see GEC come out with. Here's a couple that I've spent time with:

Thanks guys and right Brad, the use of stout is probably not best in this situation, felt that from looking at the end where she facets around, and yes the blades are svelt, good word for that ;)

edited to add, the blades were ground down fairly thin, Tony had mentioned to me that he tries to keep on Case about grinding their blades down so they cut better, these cut very well !

This knife already looked great, but coupled with that sheath? Whoa.

Your photography skills are fantastic, too.

Gary, I've never owned/used a sheath for a knife, but if I ever do, your phone will be ringing. You do some mean work, sir!

Thanks, that was about as high up as I'd go with the leather, as you still need room to allow the handle into the sheath, works great, snaps into place solid, which depends on the contours of the knife.
That extra layer of leather at the bottom is something I recently started doing, adding a spacer so the belt runs into that and not into the thread, but I've not had a problem with the thread ever going bad, but this adds some rigidity to the sheath too, so it's a little more work, but I think it's worth the time and trouble spent.

Thanks sir, since hurricane Sandy, on my way down to NJ that weekend for work, I picked up a wide brimmed hat with a cord for safe keeping, luckily for me I was called back and didn't have to make that trip, but it helped to get me this hat that I've worn a lot, mostly winter and when ever it rains.

I've been reading the Longmire books, in there Sheriff Longmire hooks his hat over his pistol when he goes into a house visiting, got me thinking to try that too, and so since carrying a knife like this, it provides a ready hook for the cord to loop over and keeps the hat handy while out of my hands, usually when I go into a store or the library, I feel real 'cowboyish' when doing so ;)

Saw your post in 'what are you totin' today' and was about to ask about the sheath when I noticed this thread. Top notch leather work Gary and an equally great knife. Coffin jacks are definitely growing on me.

Thanks, it was a long ways around the barn to get here, started with the Case Seahorses and ended up in a Coffin ;)

That's a great looking knife and sheath, Gary. I don't have that particular collab but I haven't been disappointed in any way with the half dozen I have. The T. Bose on the tang is icing on the cake.

Thanks Gary, I'm on the lookout for the Tribal Spear at some point to add that to the nest.

And Joe and Brad, those Ebony scaled ones look really nice too ! The shield on this one sits a little high on the scales but not too bad, plus it's pinned so it should keep well in place.

Great knife and very nice pictures of it Gary. I think it was once my knife, so I may be partial. ;):thumbup::D

Hah, I believe it very well may be once yours, I just compared it to an image you had posted of yours and the finger prints...of the jigging at least...appear to be identical ! Nice sir, she's reach a good home.

Thanks Dean, she's a beaut for sure;

resting on a cut off section from the sheath she now calls home, ;)

I think that this collab is one of the best looking coffin jacks that I have seen. Just the clean crisp lines of the handle to the awesome looking grinds.
Sadly, the cost has kept me from more actively searching one out. I like the ebony a lot, but the costs reach into the range of a lot of actual customs.

That sheath is perfection. Nice work, nice knife and nice pictures!

I agree, the price is encroaching into customs easily, but the build quality is pretty close too, not quite custom but if you can find them on the secondary market at a decent price, it's worth the price of admission. It takes a while to build up funds, which is why I usually sell off others in order to afford something new.

And thanks, my love for knives is almost overshadowed by love of photography, passions are funny like that ;)

That' s a good looking knife, Gary! I am glad to hear Tony tells Case to grind knives like cutting tools should be ground: THIN! :-)
