Boss Jack Poll

Can you please explain what you mean by this? How do you use it?

It's frustratingly difficult to explain. And I'm not going to kill another chicken for the instructional vid :D

I tried to photograph it, but anyway, I've found the elf choil works very well at cutting the tendons around joints. Better than searching with the tip of the knife and cutting stuff that doesn't need to be cut. with the choil you just place the front talon hole on the piece of bone and rotate the whole knife around the joint. The elf choil just fits in really well, and I've found the sweet spot on every species I've tried it on.

It's a small job on any butchering project, but when you have a dozen chickens to process before you can stop, every little bit helps.

With all of you guys wanting BOSS Jacks with large choils, there'll be lots of Jacks without choils for me to scoop up!!!

I'm in the large choil camp on a blade this length.

But I want to pick up one without, just to see if I'd like it.

But I know I'd forget and go to choke up and  :o

I regret not getting a choil-less TB, so I dont think I will make the same mistake with the BJ. I ideally want a partially serrated BJ with no choil.

arc - Thank you for that explanation. It makes sense.

I am torn - I like choiless but that large choil is so sexy!

Looks like it's about even up between the Large choil vs No choil and one elf choil vote.

(Elf choils are useless)

I'm in for a large choil.

If this goes beyong the Proto stage, and becomes a regular offer, maybe there will be an Anorexic option? :p:thumbup: Then I would order a skinny one w/o choil.

Great post  I am always happy learning new techniques .... cool idea and I will give it a go .... my Basic 9 has a small choil and it is great for use with a fire steel .... now I have a second option for it

I scored one with the large choil, the perfect knife IMO. If it were thinner I would consider a choiless version in the future as well, but for EDC I preferred the large choil.

I'm very interested to see the percentage that ordered the elf choil. I would venture some collectors, are they are the most aesthetically pleasing.

after feeling all three of them, I went with a no choil and a large choil. the med choil was a unique comprimise between having a notch for your fingers and Not having one.. but I didn't see the functionality of it other than giving you a little more cutting edge, but not enough room to put your finger in. By the way, they feel GREAT in the hand.. Hope they make this one a regular on the busse sight

I see the elf choil as 99% useless, blade sharpening ease being that 1%....But if its gonna sit in a safe I guess why not. I dont have safe queens so its not fo me. Heres the "definate" count so far...

Large: 23
Elf: 1 (hehe)
No: 21
