Are you saying that whichever knife you are permitted to buy is a random sort of thing?
Can you not buy the knives you're primarily looking for, or is the competition for them that crazy there?

I've not been, but I believe it works like this:

Sometimes, with some knives - especially new and/or particularly limited ones, they take the cardboard sleeve/sheath that all Busses come with and toss those into the crowd of outreached hands, and if you catch one you have the opportunity to buy *that* knife. More lottery than auction, and all things considered - a pretty fair way to deal with those knives in high demand and short supply.

In addition, there's always *other* knives you can just buy if you see it on the table. And, sometimes there are ones where all they brought was a display model - so if you want one you pay a deposit for your order and once the knife is done they bill you for the balance and ship it.

There are knives from Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat on the table available for purchase at the show. There are a few from Busse available (HG55, Sus Scrofa, etc) that I believe are also available, but I didn't ask. The others on the table are the CG Killa Zilla II and the Gladius. Those are preorder only.

The cards are given out this time rather than thrown. Someone holds up the knife available for purchase, and if you want it you can ask for a card which will be given to you, but they're in short supply. With the card you can fill out payment information for that particular knife, and they'll get you sorted out.

Anyway, that was my experience on Friday :D
 
Ahhh, not as much as a free-for-all rugby match as previously described, although battling over a knife purchase sounds kinda fun. I could put my grappling skills to good use, and if that failed, pinching and scratching always works.
