BOSS Street Pic Thread

I would describe the BOSS Street as a perfect balance between the old straight handled Mean street and Badger Attack. I like my Proto so much I ordered a CG BOSS this morning :)

+1. I absolutely LOVE the handle length on the BOSS Street. It's very comfortable and very well balanced. But light the knife is not . . . 8.5 oz with the stock handles.

Yea, these are definitively nice knives, and sick prices, I might have to get a few... wish there were options on these...

I gotta say - I won't get the CG because I can't imagine using it with a satin/BP in hand. :)

I was one of hte lucky ones to FONDLE both in PA. What a treat. But the satin called to me. Jaxx wanted me to get both. LOL Jerry should hire that man. ROTFL!

It is frighteningly similar to a BA3 in so many ways. If you ground the butt off of a BA3 (sort of like a PD or other 3-series knives), you'd be near identical, save the belly and choil-size. It is thicker than a stripped BA3 (which is truly .187 but saber-ground). I don't have my scales near me to check weight but I ahve to believe it's near identical as well. (OK, the BOSS is a bit heavier b/c it's .210-ish.)

The thing it has going for it WELL above the BA3 is that quilted handle. It's a dream to hold.

It's another knife I've toyed with sending off to have the handle skeletonized. It'd move the balance nearer the front of the scales and take a couple ounces off I'm sure.

Of course, I've YET to do it. I even have a client who is a gunsmith that could probably do it in an afternoon. (The man is a genius with 1911's and CSA's.) A little while with his milling machine could do wonders. (Not me - him. I'd muck it up completely. He understands heat treat and cutting and junk. I'm strictly an end-user.)

I've thought about skeletonizing a bunch of my Busse's... one of the benefits of being in experimental physics is that I have access to a VERY well equipped machine shop.

I'm always too lazy to actually do it, though

Overheating the blade during skeletonization and destroying the tempering would be my concern. At a minimum, I'm sure skeletonizing the tang would void the warranty. And I, for one, like the BOSS Street's heft. At 8.5 oz., it feels like a more substantial knife than its size would suggest.

One of the machines I have access to is a water cooled CNC machine... now I don't know if I would bother to program that beast just to cut a few holes in a knife, but I wouldn't be worried about the temper... :D

Does anyone know what shows the protos were avil at? I know it was at Easton, but what other ones?

how many different flavors were there at the shows ? i've seen a satin/bp , dc/black micarta and now the black/black on the busse website... were there more?

That's it, robstar - the DC was released at Blade West, the Satin at Easton - both being protos available only to HOGS.

I much prefer the DC, personally.

Although I'd take ANY color in an anorexic version
