Bossman, we need one of these! My dream chopper

I like it a lot! I would most definitely like to see a Busse blade similar to that one.

I had drbarnes visit recently and the chopper (other than the busses) that I was most impressed with was a Wesner that Barnes designed. I'll see if I can get a picture of it.

The blade that you have pictured reminds of the Wesner, though I may not be remembering it correctly. All I know is that it was the best "comp" chopper I've ever used in terms of performance. Couple that performance with INFI and Jerry's genius, and I think it'd be my favorite chopper.

Im looking forward to the SHBM. I think the most importabnt factor for performance that we won't see form Busse is blade height. If you took a knife like the SHBM thats nice and long at 11.5 inches and then made it with .187 stock that was about 3/4th of an inch wider you'd have an absolute chopping beast. I remember Jerry posting that he didn't have much steel around in wide stock so that probably limits the blade height we can expect from Busse.

Tall and thin is what makes a chopper. I think .187 is my preferred thickness for a chopper. I like the extra heft and toughness over thinner stock.

I don't get that. There is a picture floating around from some years ago of a wide sheet of INFI left over after blades had been cut out of it.

Here's a picture of the David Wesner that drbarnes designed and I had the pleasure of chopping with last week.

I would really love to see a blade like this with Res-C handles, maybe 13" or so, and a similar blade height & profile. My first choice would be INFI, of course, but I definitely would also love to see an SR-77 Scrap Yard version. If the FDM is anything like this, I'll buy a whole lot of them.

Yeah, plus we've seen plenty of hatchet/axe variations that would require a wide piece of infi. How about both the KZs? I'd imagine you'd need a pretty wide piece of infi for the over all height with the curved blade.

I remember a thread where Jerry was talking about making a kitchen knife but didn't have wide enough infi stock, I think with things like the Zilla out there that Infi probably comes in thick enough stock for a bolo.

That is a really sweet looking blade.
I think .187" is the thinnest offering we have had in the longer blades so I don't think we would see much thinner than that, but I would be very happy with that thickness in a knife that size or a TTKZ, especially if either one had res-c for the handle.

edit to add: That blade only looks about one inch longer than the upcoming SHBM, so how about we just push that one into production so we can have a Busse in hand instead of two in the wish. ;)

CAN I GET An AMEN!!!!

Can I get a "What What!"

It would be so sweet. Give it a Res C handle, with a slightly thicker tang, then taper towards the front.

But, even a full thickness at a relatively thin stock would make me happy (well really, not, because I would have to buy one, and figure out what to sell).
