Botach Bites!

Now I know that a complaint against Botach is nothing new, but this is a NEW one.

I've dealt with Botach probably a half a dozen times over the last year or so and I've never had any problems (just lucky I guess). Anyway, I placed an order last Friday for a few items and when I got up this morning I found an email from them. Despite having ordered from them many times, because I live in Canada they wanted some extra information before they processed my credit card:

*a fax consisting of a scanned image of both sides of my credit card along
with my driver's licence or passport.

*an authorization letter signed and
faxed to them stating that I am
authorizing them to bill my credit
card.

What a pile of sh*t. Do you know how much the order was for? $15! I have bought hundreds of dollars of knives from a dozen or more dealers and NEVER had this kind of insult. I'll take my business elsewhere.

If you're listening Botach - Bite me. Bite me hard. While you're down there, take a good long suck. I hope you choke.

So.. why the happy face icon? You give them too much credit by giving that to them. I got a voice mail (which I actually saved on my computer since it's entertaining) from them chewing me out for not sending them my credit card info and that's why I didn't get my order. Duh, I was waiting for an invoice so I could send them a MO. Suffice to say, I never called them back and they can GTH. What a good way to do business. Morons.

thats kinda harsh......they did NOT rip you off....they did NOT charge you extra....obviously something has changed in their billing procedure and they passed along the extra paper work to you....if you dont want to do it...fine....but you dont have to trash them for just following procedure.....my opinion obviously!

Johan, While I agree that I would probably be aggravated also, Tom makes a good point. However, what amazes me is the increasing number of internet dealers who give good service, bad service, good service etc.. I've had it both ways and the only thing I can think of is that some of these folks are trying to run a bigger operation than they have resources for. That should not become the customers problem. Personally, I just don't do business wiyh the outfits that continue to get poor write ups in The G B & U. Being the eternal pessimist, I fiqure if I do, it's just a matter of time before I'm the one that gets bit. Bruce

Tom, I agree that Botach did not rip me off, nor did they charge me extra, and perhaps they have had a change in their billing procedure. HOWEVER, the email that they send me was a curt form letter offering no explanation for the change in billing procedure. My ire comes from the insinuation that just because I'm not in the US I'm a higher credit risk (despite numerous previous orders). Frankly, if anyone is at greater risk it's me. Canada Customs is notorious for confiscating items at the border. Also, when I spoke to someone at Botach to confirm that they had the items in stock I asked if it was still no problem to ship to Canada and I was told there were no issues. I get the feeling that the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. I mean really, scans of my credit card, drivers licence, passport and a letter of authorization? Don't you think that's a bit much? Wouldn't you be a bit insulted if you tried to make a repeat purchase and someone demanded that much identification? With all the faceless and nameless internet dealers I find the deciding factor, in most cases, is not price but service. I'm willing to pay a little more for the service. I guess in this instance my thriftiness got the better of me and this is where it got me. BTW, if you think I'm harsh in my previous post you should see me on a Monday morning

If you ever have a true problem, INSIST on talking to BK. He is the owner and will make things more than right. I have had only honorable dealings with this company...

correct sir....however....I would simply not do business with them....and that would be the end of it.

Actually Tom that is exactly what I intend to do (stop doing business with them). Glad we can agree on some things

Just a little update, I sent an email to Botach informing them that they could cancel my order only to have it bounced back to me. It appears Botach's email accounts are over their quota. Oh yeah man, their service rocks!

Johan, I think Tom meant that you should have simply stopped doing business with them and not made this post.

I agree with Tom's first post and this is just another case of over reacting.

IMO, you are totally wrong for posting this; you didn't lose anything.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine and this is the forum for opinions.

This is also the last thing I have to say regardless of anything else as I had not, nor have, any intention of starting a fire.
