Botach: I didn't listen, but I should have!

Well, I did not listen to the ugly posts about Botach. The idea of a great price got the best of me. Listen to this.

a) On 5/24 I order a Green Handled Commander with Satin blade. I was told it was in stock. $125.00 is an unbelieveable price!

b) Botach was closed for the Memeorial Day weekend, including Tuesday 5/29.

c) On 5/30 I was told, by "Chuck" that it had shipped on 5/25. However they could not give me the UPS tracking number because that "fellow" was not in yet. An hour later, I called again, and was told, still no number.

d) Later on 5/30, I called again. Another fellow told me it had not shipped yet. I got "Chuck" back on the line and he clarified and said it had been shipped on 5/25.

e) I was getting upset so I called BK, Botach's owner. He told me to speak to "Jeffery" in customer service. "Jeffery" told me that by the end of the day, I would have the UPS tracking number emailed to me. He also told me the item had shipped 5/25.

f) Last evening I got the UPS tracking number in an email. I called UPS and was told that the tracking number shows the item has not yet left the shipper!

g) I called UPS again, this morning (5/31) and am still told that shipment has not yet been picked up from the shipper - STILL!

Well, I am getting really mad now. I will keep you up to date. I believe I will get my knife, but so far I have not gotten one trustworthy, straight answer by anyone from Botach. PLUS, MY CREDIT CARD HAS ALREADY BEEN CHARGE. If I don't get my knife, I simply won't pay.
 
I thought we weren't allowed to post about Botach if they screwed us.
I mean, if we screwed ourselves by dealing with them

Just had to beat all the "told you so's".
 
I just got off of the phone with them again. The guys are very pleasant and trying to be helpful. I am calmed down now.

Anyway, if I get my knife from them tomorrow, I can honestly say I will deal with them again, because of their prices. I have made some headway into learning who to deal with in their company to get answers. Their problem is simply poor organization. I spoke at length to them about improvments and what a difference good quick fact finding can mean to a customer in terms of repeat business.

The price are better than great! If their communication and organization would improve, they would be very good for me.

PS: My Commander is arriving today. I finally got the correct tracking number. All is well and I got a new Commander for $125.00. It was worth the hassle.

A lesson I learned long ago in the retail industry. But I' m glad your order seems to be going on track Jay. Good that you can laugh with us.

I think when a Company screws the pooch like this, they should at least kick you the Shipping free, and in cases where people have waited and not even bugged them until 2 days after their package was due to arrive, they should kick out free OVERNIGHT shipping.

But by the looks of these "Botach Threads," it looks like they would quickly go out of business if they did this.

Someone told me you have no problem from them if you order C.O.D. as they want their money and ship promptly then...FWIW.

Was this just a case of getting you the wrong tracking number? Did they indeed ship it on 5/25?

For the record, I've always had excellent service from Botach.
 
John Hollister: My situation with Botach did continue after I received the knife.

First of all, the reason the first tracking number was wrong, is that UPS had not yet picked it up. In other words, Botech never shipped the knife at all! I raised so much hell, that Botech shipped in next day.

Nevertheless, I finally got the knife. When I opened up the box, I saw they shipped me a black handled Commander instead of the Green handle. Now I was really mad. Plus, the order paperwork showed that someone had crossed out green and hand wrote "black" because they ran out of green!!!!!!! In other words, someone in shipping made the decision to substitue, without calling me.

I called their customer service and went "politely, but firmly" out of my head! I ended up keeping the knife but they took all shipping charges off of my bill. I figured I wasn't going to find a brand new Commander, anywhere, for $125.00 delivered, so I kept it.

Really a long ordeal!
 
So in other words you got a good price, with lots of hassle on something you didn't want to begin with.

DaveH: Yes. That is it in a nutshell. Also, if anyone wants to buy from Botach, just keep in mind the what you might be in for.

One important point left out. I had a choice to send it back, so I guess I wanted it enough to keep it.

A Commander for $125 delivered is a Hell of a deal. Too bad it wasn't exactly what you wanted.

Purchased my Commander from Botach on 5/30, Got it today 6/5.

I did call and ask what was in stock before I placed the order and got exactly what they said for $126.

I didn't read any of the post before I ordered but in my experience with the company they delivered as promissed and with a significant savings to me.

(I wouldn't have liked it) but I would have waited another week to get it to save the $$$

Maybe I got lucky but I've also read bad things from the other vendor that I was considering purchasing from (at least Botach has a phone number to call!).

What a great racket that is! I'll tell ya what - I'll beat Botach's price. You send me $100, I'll lie to you for a while, then eventually send you a knife of my choice. Ya can't beat it!
