That's what I'm thinking. So often my camera equipment is what I need to have on hand that it only makes sense to make a small kit based around a camera case instead of having two kits on me. That will leave me more mobile. I like the addition of the cord lock light, those are really cool.
As the rubber tubing, some different uses for each type but some similar uses for both; drinking, syphoning, distilling, tourniquet, with some added things irrigating a wound, adding oxygen to coals, improvised cordage for multiple uses, I think some will burn just like an inner tube...
very cool.
2 to 3 feet of surgical tubing is very useful stuff. Along with the uses enumerated by others I would add using it for sling spears for fishing, motion engines for traps, and anything else where elasticity would be helpful. Plastic tubing is less useful but sometimes the only way to access difficult water sources such as solar stills, etc.
Nice set up. Mine is just a military surplus bag with all my crap tossed into it. Even the food isn't high tech. Just three of those cheap dried noodle and powder deals and two cans of sardines. One ketchup and one mustard. Man I love those sardines, and they even improve my breath !![]()
Anyone ever try the countycomm maratac hydrant?
It looks pretty sweet, also alot longer then the maxpedition one.
Good price.

I think I will get one soon...
The countycomm is certainly a step up from a brown paper bag for wine-o's![]()
IIRC pet stores that sell fish tanks will have tubing. Anything specific to look for? I guess I probably want the stretchy rubber kind vs the plastic type.

Even though we are seperated by 1,000's of miles, we eat from the same tin! I'm a sardine guy too and rely on low tech foods for most of my outings. Prefer the mustard and don't forget the saltines.

I was thinking of ordering it for Moosez45's birthday, we all know how much he drinks..........![]()
good, well thought out kit  go to rite-aid or walmart in the first aid/medical section for the stretchy tubing. some sporting goods stores that sell slingshots have replacement bands as well.
Thanks dude. Thanks for the tip on the tubing, I'll check it out.
Picked up a Maxped 2" strap pad for it today. Makes it quite a bit more comfortable when fully loaded. Also got a s/r buckle that matches up with the buckles on the Maxped Janus extension pouch. Gonna try and sew the buckles into the strap so I can splice in the Janus pouch. It'll make a good spot for a compass, camera, and other quick access gear I reckon. The pouch itself will have to wait for next payday though![]()

That is a genius idea! I'm embarrassed I didn't think of thatI could sew some Velcro onto this strap to hold the Janus in place too. Thanks for the idea my friend, you saved me a whole ton of time
