Has anybody ever asked you to put a bottle opener on a knife? I am not sure if that would be a good idea or not. Would it be on the bootom of the tang or where a gut hook would go. Please post some pics if you have made one. The reason I ask is a buddy from work wants me to make him one but with a bottle opener. I told him I would think about it. Thanks.

The only two spots that I could think of to have a bottle opener on a knife would be to make a knife like a gut hook, but instead of the hook piece, have that the bottle opener, or have it at the very back of the knife.

It has pretty much been said. But I think if I decided to tackle one I would put a thump ramp on it and put it under the thumb ramp. My $0.02.

A bit different but this is a friction folder that has a bottle opener/screwdriver added.

The famous Becker Necker has one. I've never used the one on mine, but if I'm ever lost and come across a frosty, non-twist-off bottle of beer, I'll be glad it's there. :D

Honestly, I think they're a touch gimmicky but hey, the customer is always right. If that's what they want, grind one in there. Your idea to put it where a gut-hook would be is kind of cool. The one in BikerMike's folder is pretty neat, too.

I'm making one for a neck knife build-off...it's off being HT now.....

Plus I just slapped some cocobolo on this CRKT Dogfish...kinda cute, no??

There was some discussion of this on the Chris Reeve forum and you can open a beer bottle with a Sebenza without any modification. Tried it , works fine !!

The end of that tang looks like a dude that's just seen a major jaw-dropping event.

In any case, I think it would be a bad idea to put it near the choil, or where the choil would be if your knife were to have one. Just imagine:

- left hand grabs bottle
- right hand places knife, edge down, with the opener hook on the cap
- lifts handle to open bottle
- edge comes shooting at your knuckles at high speed.....

If you know how to open a bottle with a lighter, you can open a bottle with te spine of every knife.
