Last night we started obedience school. During the class portion where they were doing leash training a ********* boston terrier (full grown) launched at my poor Boudreaux (14 week baby) and latched onto his face. There was no barking, no growling, no warning. The evil little BT was very good on the leash, heeling and auto sitting perfectly. Then just grabbed Boudy by the face. By the time we got him off I was covered in both of our blood, and my dog had defecated himself in his shock.

We took him to the vet and he has severe bruising in his mouth and on his face. He's got several lacerations and puncture wounds through his lips and nose. He's lost his two canine teeth.

This AM his little face was swolen badly, and he was very timid with us.

I'm so mad I could spit. The Evil BT's owner was very apologetic. Immediately caged the awful horrid little excuse for a dog, and showed great concern and offered to pay the vet bill (whoop tee doo a whole 30 bucks.)

I didn't get agressive with her, I just sat on the floor in poop and blood and comforted my dog. He was stiff as a board at first, but then just melted into me and hid his face in my armpit. I was also bitten several times as I grabbed the little menaces jaw and pryed it off my angel's face. I wasn't able to do this as quickly as I could have due to its (Evil BT) owner being in my way. Probably a good thing. I'd have not been very gentle.

Anyway, how are y'alls obedience classes going?

Cost me over 200 bucks to get my Border Collie patched up when he was attackked by a Rott. Cost Ms Hd 200 to get patched up after SHE was attacked by one.

I feel your pain.

They were his baby teeth. I hope so.

That must have been scary HD. Rotts are so big. I've never met a mean one myself, but with a dog that big... scary.

Ouch, thats not good at all. I'd have wanted to use that BT for Target Practice. My feelings towards something like that are not pretty so I won't say more about that BT. I hope your dog recovers quickly. Please take good care of him and let him know you love and apriciate him. Hold him lots.

Man that sucks:( I never trust other people's dogs for this reason alone. My dog Rox is an only child, but he loves other dogs...I just don't trust other dogs around him. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body unless someone is at the door or comes into his back yard (a GOOD thing, IMHO).

I feel so sorry for little Boudreux. He'll bounce back, but it's still a hellova scary ordeal to go through. If it had been my dog, no way in hell I would have been gentle with the other dog. I'd choke the life out of the BT before I would gingerly pry him away as he ripped my dog's face off. Kinda surprises me that a BT would be so aggressive. They usually are a pretty even tempered dog....still, there is some bulldog in their blood line. They gotta a nasty set of choppers on them should they choose to use them.

Well actually it's a strange story.

I was going up to the barn and I heard a huge dogfight and Ms HD yelling wildly.

I ran down to the corner of the yard and here was the wife, straddling the Rottweiler, beating on his head with both hands screaming "Let go of my dog!!" he had old Joshua's head in his jaws.

Finally the neighbors who owned him pulled him off and then he attacked him again! Because the stupid f8cks didn't even have a collar on him to hold him by:grumpy:

They got him off and it fractured Josh's sinuses and cost me 200 bucks. Of course they volunteered to pay, which they never did.

The dog was later shot by another neighbor after it ate a kitten off of their porch:thumbdn::mad:

Luckily they all moved out and later burned down the house and the land sets empty. Two of them moved down the hollow grew up and actually apologized to me for all the grief they gave me.

Jesssssus. That does sound scary. Out of control, abused, poorly raised enormous dogs are a shame. Rotweillers are a really nice loving dog when raised properly...

My wife's cousin brought her Rottie to obedience class, everything was going well, the dog never gave anyone ANY problems, ever, then..... it ATE some poor womans Yorkie that was in the class, no warning, just a couple big gulps and it was GONE.

Socialization, training, etc., are good, but they are still dogs, and anything can happen.

Sorry for the pup, should heal up pretty fast.

Boy Andy, I'm sure sorry to hear about that. :( I hope your li'l guy heals quickly, as well as you. Sounds like you're doing all the right things, but I'd expect no less from a great guy like you.

I'm trying. I didn't do much really. Having a lot of second guessing type thoughts. I should have done this, or that, or whatever. But y'all know me. If I had said anything much my language would have gone south, the lady would have cried, and I've have become the bad guy. I just didn't have the energy to do anything but hold Boudy.

At the time, holding him was probably the best thing to do. God Bless!!

Sorry to hear about that. I hate it when my animals are hurt. I will ask Zoe and the Bear to pray for him tonight!

Jesus, Andy, that must have been scary! I've never done obedience training...I guess I've just been lucky with the pooches I've had. Casper meets several dogs a day on our walks in the park. I keep him on a 'short leash' until I find out how he's going to react with the other dog. Usually it's nose to nose, nose to butt then it's, for the most part, fun & games. On rare occasions after the ol' nose to nose he will 'snap' at a dog and I'm glad I've got him on the 'short leash'. Hope your pup heals up nicely and he's in the swing of things soon. I wouldn't expect him to forget the experience though.

Sorry to hear that Andy, so many dogs do have a pack & fight tendency deep in thier genes its tricky to know which are reliable with each other even when well trained..

Thats not even looking at bad owners influance. {Crack dealers pits etc.}

But I guess your Bordeux puppy will be right as rain in a week time, his genes & your care will bring him through but he might want to eat Boston terriers one day.

Regards,
Spiral

Man, Andy, that's a bad one. Dogs sometimes kill one another; something we forget- if you haven't seen it.

In Canada once I saw a vicious unattended dog tear into a smaller one that wandered by his turf. He bit it behind the neck and just picked it up and smashed it into the groud- just like a rag doll- again and again before they were separated. (Time was lost looking for a stick, as the onlookers were afraid of the b*stard).

I don't think the smaller dog made it. Was pouring blood from punctures.

Animals, no matter how cute, are animals. So are we; a vicious nature some of us have in common, unfortunately.

Sorry to hear about your baby getting pounced on...

We had a Pit at one time and a friend came over to our home with a blood hound... MISTAKE!

The only way my Dad could get the pit to let go was to straddle the dog grab his collar and give it a bit of a twist and then he reached around and grabbed his nose... Our pit almost completely passed out before he finally let go of the other dog...

The only blood loss was the other dogs owner as his hound turned and bit him.. LoL....

I've seen it Mike, its not pretty as you say, and I was so scared he wasn't going to make it too.

I appreciate all y'alls support!

Sorry to hear that, man.
I train my own dogs.

But things like thios can happen, no matter how "nice" the dogs. One of our church elders raises and trains dogs. Likes to take his beagles hunting. Now most people know that beagles are one of the friendliest breeds out there. Well, one day he comes homes and one of his dogs, Rusty and old beagle, was missing. There was little pieces of fur and blood in the cage. The other members of the pack just decided they didn't want him around anymore.

Hope he makes it. And get your bites checked, too. Animal (even human) bites can get complicated really fast.
