Ebay is flooded with fakes, one need to be very careful buying an old pocket knives especially "big names". It is an industry, and some of the fakes are really good.

That goes for all big names. Perhaps one of the most copied/counterfeited knives is the pre-1965 Case Trapper, especially their old jigged red bone Trappers. I never buy one of those without holding it in my hands and inspecting it. The one exception to that is one of our Blade Forum Sponsor Dealers.

I saw the posted knife or one like it on the big auction site. Definitely a fake, to me it looks like it was made out of a Solingen-made stock knife like a Risner Indian Head or similar.

i bought this knife thinking it is indeed an old remington..i hope i didnt get ripped off....im not up on remington reproductions
so if anyone can give me some info on this knife it would be appreciated
the knife measures 3 7/8 inches closed

Steeltown - Remington is the second most collected traditional pocket knife in the world right behind Case. Your going to see companies out of China or wherever try and pass them off as real. This knife shows no sign of honest wear and the tang stamps are too clean and not deep enough. As some have said in this thread we all learn from our mistakes. Don't be discouraged and keep on collecting my friend.
