Well I "caved" and I bought an expandable 21 inch baton. One of the cheap models. I am not sure if I would trust my life to it but a cheap baton is better than no baton. Which with the weather getting warmer I am not wearing a jacket so I can not have my full size non expanding baton. At the very least I have my back up Bowie knife and a kubotan. Hopefully I wont need anymore weapons with me this summer. What do you guys think did I make the right choice in getting a cheap baton?

Is there a reason you’re carrying this stuff and not a firearm?

I have only had 1 pot of coffee so far so forgive me if their are any typos. Does no one go through and read my insane ramblings? I have specifically said in the past guns are to gunny and with the price of a gun I could buy allot of pizza computers and tickets to conventions.

I tell this to this one guy I know all the time "Yes I could buy a dvd and a player and such but thouse items are not edible. And I have tried boilimg them in a soup. Or I could spend the money elswhere and have like 5 to 7 meals at a restaurant. Factoring 10 dollars a meal."

You ask this question and then he very quickly provides a sound answer.

Things like this are why he's not allowed to buy a gun.

Funny, I can legally carry my firearm here but my baton is illegal.

I think it's to save the taxpayers the burden of providing a trial for the gremlin if they manage to survive the encounter with an armed victim. Far less likely when they've got multiple holes punched through them.

As long as you keep in mind that many jurisdictions will still consider that coin purse a "contrived sap or slungshot".

You definitely need either a defensive cane, or if legal a cane with a dagger or small sword handle. Fake a limp if you feel the need. Hard toe shoes/sneakers are good, as long as you don’t cross a lot of railroad tracks. If I need to walk through a favela or thugville gardens where I know I could be hit on the head with a length of pipe a tactical leather/Kevlar baseball cap, and a back/support which is only tight enough to hold a thick enough piece of rubber/wood/metal to prevent kidney/liver stabs. And of course sunglasses.

I doubt you go anywhere that you would be in danger and need a batonon and nobody would try to mug / rob you anyways because they can see you spend all of your money on pizza.

Now a word of warning is that your collapsible baton and knife wouldn't help you anyways brandishing them isn't enough, they'll most certainly take them and use them against you.

I'd rather go with a big knife than a baton. There's far fewer safe places on it for someone to grab in an attempt to disarm you.

It’s always better to learn to avoid encounters than to equip for them. I can’t take a parachute or a knife while flying commercial, so I’m taking a risk everytime I do.
I have “survived” race riots in urban areas by deliberately walking slowly, close to buildings, with my fingers curled to keep attention away from myself long enough to get the hell out of the hood to a safe place.

I carry a Baton daily in my job. I can tell you even with training in how to use one they are not all that. This is coming from someone that has used one in self defense several times. For personal defense off the job I will stick to a firearm,if I had to use it it would be easier to defend than if I used a Baton. Not to mention I believe they are still illegal for the general public to carry here.

Be very discreet and carry a new ball glove in a sling pack. Use the pocket of the ball glove to carry this glove mallet. I know, it's kind of cloak and dagger, without the dagger, "but it's legal".
