Bought my 1st SureFire!

In addition to my 9P I've also got a G2L in my car. That one has become my go to light. Unlike many flashlight enthusiasts, I prefer the polymer to the knurled metal. If I had to get another light it would be the new G2XL I think it's called. The specs look good on that one.

Glad you like your SF. I'm not personally that impressed with them. If you want a real man's light, save up the approx $200 and get a HDS/Ra tactical clicky 170.

Flashlights are similar to knives I suppose. For the enthusiasts there is an obsession with acquiring the newest and best. With knives this obsession is manifested with the use of supersteels and designs for increasingly stronger locks. With flashlights the quest seems to be upping the maximum number of lumens.

At some point you have to step back and just admit that the light in your hand is good enough. Is it the best? Probably not, unless you have the newest model. Flashlights, like computers and televisions are constantly being upgraded and what is the fan favorite today will be eclipsed by something better a year from now. I know the 6PL will give me good service. It's a proven light made by a solid company. Plus, I was never one to go for the max lumens. I place more importance on a longer runtime.

Thanks for the tip about the HDS/RA Tactical. I won't be getting it for a while, but it's been added to the wish list. I'm looking at the 120 lumen model, I don't need all 170 lumens. The programmable settings feature would be very useful I think.

^^^^^^ great point you should be buying a light suited to what you using it for and to be honest I have never felt my 200 lumen defender was underpowered

+1

The HDS is brighter, just as durable, cheaper, offers customizability of modes, runs on li-ion also, and can be customized with multiple LED options: throwy/floody, high CRI/140lm/170lm options, much better than incan...

All in a pocketable package. A comparable Surefire would cost half of a fortune, and probably use 5mm leds for the low mode, and a Cree XPC LED for the high. :p

I prefer my Surefire's to those. My LX2 does everything I need, backed by one of the best companies I know of.

If I could do it again I would buy and incandescent 6P and then a Malkoff LED drop-in separately.

That's what I ended up doing. Kicks ass. Malkoff Devices M60 drop-in makes it a stupidly-bright little light.

I got the F04 diffusor for my E1B last week, I don't need LED options. :D

HDS Tools are definitely great lights, but I don't see one kicking my E1B out of my pocket. The TIR lens has just a incredible throw, and couple that with the Z68 tailcap, a F04 diffusor... Flood when you want it, TIR when you need it, perfection! :D

Congrats on your purchase.

I love my 6P, it's taken a few licks and keeps ticking.

I've wanted an A2 for about 7 years now but can't seem to scratch the cash together.

I bought a Surefire 6P Classic that I should receive tomorrow. This will be my 2nd 6P...(I owned both a 6P and a 9P quite a few years ago, and I am pretty stoked to receive this 6P.). I bought this one from a guy at "CandlePower Forums" for $55, shipped, and it's brand-new.

Well, I received my Surefire 6P on Friday, and this was $55 VERY well-spent. This is one bright little flashlight that really lights up an area! It is very well-made. I might look into one of those LED conversions to go with it.

Get a malkoff to go in that 6P you won't regret it.

My probably with Surefire is I feel like I am paying for the name on the light plus the light. Their prices just are not comparable to other companies.

The customer service alone makes the light worth the price. I have a G2 that I had a ton of problems with. I had the bulb and tailcap replaced by SureFire. As compensation for the trouble, they sent me a half-dozen batteries with the tailcap.

I received the 6PL a couple of days ago. Great light. Puts my Nuwai Q-III to shame.

This flashlight thing is almost as bad as knives. I'm going to place an order for a Fenix for my wife, and I'm thinking of picking up one of those HDS/RA Executives for myself. It only makes sense to have a backup, right?

I have a E1L I carry everyday. It's not the brightest but on the lowest setting it will run for 2 days almost. I don't mind the lower rating as it last longer is half the size of the other surefires almost and fits so well in my pocket. That and I don't have any sewers to tromp around in at night. I will mostly have it for a very long time. Money well spent and I didn't pay retail :)

Get an E1B clip for your E1L and you'll love it even more.

Neither did I. I got mine for $60 shipped. No one who is internet-savvy should ever have to pay retail.

I have a 6P yellow that I have beat the hell out of and it still works the like day I got it. It is my go to light and I carry it on a daily basis.

Enjoy your SF. I own several. Also own streamlights. OLIGHTS. Feniix. I would grab my SF if I had 10 minutes to pack and be gone. Period. They are simply great lights and the more you learn about what makes a light great the more you will appreciate it.

Order direct from Surefire on the internet

It's not available to purchase separately. Occasionally, you can convince one of the Surefire reps to send you one. Otherwise you have to pounce on one when it goes up for sale at CPF Marketplace.
