Bought my first Benchmade, not sure I'll buy another.

Benchmade does seem to have more than its share of haters, I’ve only owned a couple but they’ve all been great as far as quality control. sorry you had a bad experience, always sucks when you anticipate a new knife and it shows up with issues. I don’t want to clutter the thread with politics but I don’t and won’t own any Chinese knives. Too many great U.S. and European companies.

My last 3 Spydercos (2 built here, and one in Japan); all needed some tinkering to smooth up the action...

I've sent Benchmade about a dozen emails over the years. Some with knife issues and others with general questions. They've answered exactly 0.

That being said, I ended up calling them about broken Omega springs and they had my knife back to me in 2 weeks.
Yeah, all I've ever used was Benchmade's customer service phone number to converse with them. Short wait times and knowledgeable people.

I've got a question about their Custom Shop. Perhaps you know the answer. If you want to order something that's not "on the menu": will they work with you on it?

Why don't you just email them or call them instead of going off topic?

The Benchmade's I purchased in the 90's were good knives. Sorry to read they are not what they used to be.

That's easy! If someone in here already had the answer: it can change my approach to the "Mother Ship".
...Or even force me to abort the mission...
