Bought my first Kershaw

Excellent explainations from all, on why I nicked my thumb on the opening blade, and how to avoid that! Thank you!

P.S. I was just playing with a Kershaw Avalanche at a store today. Nice. And the grippiest handle scales I've ever felt! So grippy, I wonder if your pocket might wear down from pulling it out off the clip.....anyone experience that?

I'm also confused about the blade steel. I'm pretty sure the blade was marked S30V, but some websites (including Kershaw's) list it as S60V, and some websites say CPM-440V. Perhaps Kershaw has used different steels?

pocketknife, the Avalanche was a former S60V/CPM440V (thanks for the confusion Crucible) performer, and is now being produced in S30V.

Thanks very much, Thomas. I think that I might just have to pick that one up, now that I know about the steel!
I sure like the way it's built tough, with steel liners and all, but still quite thin. Well designed.
