He means the torsion bar was taken out so It's not longer spring assisted. You can still open it with one hand.

Yes 20 for it, want to put torsion bar back in. Has a lot of info on it my newer Kershaws don't have such as born date and pat # in what looks like two places. On the blade and the lower portion of the belt clip side.

I guess you need to wipe your chin now, lol. Boring to some inspector new to me

Just have warranty send you some new torsion bars. I just received a new bar and a clip for an old leek I thought I lost that wasn't in the best condition. They had it at my doorstep in a week.

From what I understand these were 440A? I plan on taking apart and cleaning it up good. Any suggestions for the scratches?

OK took my leek apart and it was grimed up. Took some hot water and dawn and cleaned it up. The torsion bar wasn't taken out its cracked in the middle and that's why it wasn't working. Now to order new one, does it come with a lubricant or do I need to get some and what kind should I get?

Well I got the new torsion bars from KAI, quick turnaround by the way. I wish KAI would include a small tube of lube with the bars but that's maybe just me. So I used some Vaseline type stuff until I can get proper lube and it's worked good so far. The blade really comes out smooth and fast and I really didn't think I would care for the leek but my opinion has changed over the short time I have had it even without a working torsion bar. So another happy owner KAI. And more leeks for me in the future.
