now I just have to wait for it in the mail. A few months back I was really taken with the Salsa, but never did find a green plain edge with the ambi clip. Then I got side-tracked with Himalayan Imports, vet bills and car repairs. Fast forward to last week. While checking out the Exchange here I found a pain edge Rescue for $30 shipped. Sounded good to me. I always liked the sheepsfoot blade but don't really like serrations. Perfect. Now comes the waiting. This is the part I'm not good at. Just got excited and thought I'd share the joy. And one of these days I'll have money when the green Salsa pops up. They eventually find their way to their right homes.

Looks like you got a great deal on that PlainEdge Rescue, and don't worry, I'm sure that once you receive that one, you'll find a way to get a Salsa...even if you have to buy it NIB. ;) Prepare your bank account for the beating that you're going to give it....one Spydie is not enough as you'll soon come to find out.

Beware of the Spydie virus, it strikes with no mercy. And once you're infected, you will want another, and another, and.....:D ;)

Spydie and khukuri? Uh-oh. My wife just shakes her head every time I mention getting a new knife. Then I remind her how many face and hair products she has:D

My wife gave up on trying to understand me and my Spydie habit...

...a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..... LOL :D  ;)

The Rescue is a great, time proven model that will serve you well. I don't have experience with the plain edged version, but it sounds very cool. Sounds like you got a great deal. Enjoy your new knife
!

Congrats on the good score! I have a Plain edge Rescue and I think you will be very impressed with that model. I am sure you find many models that you just can't live without. Welcome to the Spydie addiction!

My wife began to carry my knives! Like she doesn't have her own spydies! ;) Anyway, that's one knife she won't reach and that's my C11 PBK (PE Delica Lightweight - my beloved and trusty EDC!) :)

but only a couple of Kershaws, she likes the SpeedSafes. I have more than a couple. But I need more. I still need (I think "need" is the right word) Harpy & Delica, 'Hawk & Endura, Salsa & Chinook. I feel like I should give an Axis lock a try, maybe a mini-Grip. The traditional side of me would like a pick up a Bulldog 3-blade trapper and a Henkels 4-blade stockman. And of course I still need a light & fast khukuri. I think those are pretty basic needs. I don't need a mansion & a yatch, just a sharp, pointy thing for every occasion ;)

Be careful with the Mini-Grip. Soon, you'll want everything Mel Pardue designed for Benchmade, then it will be every axis-lock, then it will be every special edition variant of a knife with an axis lock. After that, you'll feel a crashing depression when you realize that Benchmade won't put your favorite axis-locked folder in your favorite version of their steels and then end up buying more Spydies to make yourself feel better. Then, you'll consider selling your 154CM Benchmades to buy more Spydies and feel happy and remorseful at the same time.

Or that could just be me. :D

Hey Thom. Mel Pardue is a great designer and knifemaker. The Williams / McHenry Axis lock is a brilliant design and Benchmade puts a lot of effort into making good knives.

There is nothing wrong with appreciating a job well done.

Sal,

Benchmade is one of my favorite companies. It is just that, once you have an axis-locked pocket knife made with a premium steel (D2, M2, or S30V for instance), you'll wish that you could buy more of their knives in those steels (especially M2 or S30V) in case you lose your collector's edition piece or want to buy such gifts for your loved ones and friends. Luckily, Benchmade is keeping their 140HS, 710HS, 806D2, and 921(S30V) in production.

Your company, though, has been steadily upgrading the 'regular' steel on its knives. VG-10 for the Delica and Endura and S30V for many of your American-made knives as regular production is most impressive. Also, your company's decision to make several of its knives ambidextrous is a boon for lefties such as myself. Furthermore, once I found out that I could buy a one-handed closing ambidextrous lockback made from S30V from your factory outlet for less than half of the retailing price of my favorite pocketknife (the Benchmade 921 Switchback), well I was sold. And the MSRP included shipping!

I seek to increase my number of Benchmade axis-locked pocket knives in D2, M2, and S30V, but I'm so happy that your company is chasing my dollar buy offering what I want.
