Bow Drill Fire Starter Socket on Bushcraft Knives: Yay or Nay?

Well, I think most agree if you are in a situation where you MUST use a primitive fire starting method like a bow and drill, it's a bad day. Any of those methods require quite a bit of practice to get to where it would be a viable option if needed.
I think the biggest appeal of a built in socket is that it would be one less piece to make in a tough situation, and if you have your knife, you've got that too.
I do think it has been a bit of a gimmick, just based on what seems to be an inferior design, if nothing else.

I would be in the nay crowd as well.

A couple of my knives have the divots, and like some mention they can be placed in an uncomfortable spot. The wear on the micarta was noticeable even after one fire attempt, so it probably wouldn't be too long before it opened the divot to the point where it would really start to create a hotspot. I also never got comfortable with how the knife felt using my shin as a brace to lock it in place. I don't really see myself doing that again.
