Bow Drill Tutorial PowerPoint

Kev is an awesome instructor, at the CT gathering he did a great presentation of the bow drill, and helped everyone who was willing to try it. He gets real excitded when you get the technique down and pushes you to keep going. He is a born teacher and a true pyromaniac:D
Kev I will get practicing so when I take the survival course with you and Marty this summer you won't have to waste to much time with me. See ya then.

I love it when my students (philosophy) get something right too. You just see that spark (in Kev's case - literally!) and you just get SO pumped up.

Email sent. Thanks for doing this for us. Definitely a skill I need to work on more!

Kevin,

I received your e-mail, thanks very much! The presentation can be viewed on the Wilderness Wiki shortly. I'll post a link when it's up.

Hey guys and gals. I was never expecting the interest in this humble powerpoint to be so great! I've sent out probably 50 replies today. I appreciate all the kind words in the E-mail requests and will be more than willing to create more for whatever topic is requested. I have a few others planned and will work on them during my down time before the end of the school year.

I truly hope the bow drill powerpoint proves to be beneficial to at least one of you and that we continue to share knowledge via this great forum.

Kev

I just finished adapting the powerpoint for WildernessWiki.org, if you can't open .ppt files or would prefer to view it as one page, check it out. There's also a video by a member from the paleoplanet forum.

Kevin,

Thank you very much for sending me this presentation. I sure wish I had something like this while learning to use the bow drill! It is an excellent contribution to the project.

CanDo,

That came out better than expected. I'm really happy you put that online. Lets keep the knowledge sharing going!

I would love to see one on flintknapping if you can deliver. I have watched the bow drill one sevral times already. Its great work. Stellar man, just stellar....... Thanks alot. jake

I'm not the one to ask for flintknapping as I'm a newbie to it. George Hedgepeth is one of the best I've ever seen though. He is on BF too!

Kevin, just when through the presentation, and I have to say I'm impressed. This is excellent work. I'm just starting to work on some of my priimitive skills (the bow drill in particular), and your practical recommendations and insights make a big difference.

Bow drill is hard enough when you are alone. But when the pressure to perform in front of others in on, that's a smaller but similar stress test of what you will encounter when you MUST do it for real in survival.

Kevin proved two specific things at the CT gathering when he demonstrated bow drill:

1) He can do it under pressure no problem.

2) Marty, who is picky as hell, picked well when he chose Kevin as a new instructor for the Wilderness Learning Center.

I can't tell you how impressed with both of them I am. I know everyone who has had the opportunity to learn from them feels same.
