Bow Hunting

I went with a crossbow last year , part torn shoulder ,and other issues ,there noisy compaired to compounds my opinion.. I would like to try a Matthews, but there priced out.. Would love to find something I can shoot more target time ,thats easy on my shoulders to draw. ,, its a great sport..Still out there for some more good years yet..
Thanks nice thread..,

Yep... I'm 6'2, 220 pounds and not a weakling by any stretch of the imagination, and even though my Mathews Switchback will max out at 72 pounds, I only shoot it at 62. It has a nice valley and a solid wall, so its easy to stay at draw for quite a while.

I don't get wrapped up in speed. I like shootabilty, and most fast bows are not forgiving, and if you even think about creeping forward, they want to release.
A fast miss or a slow miss, is still a miss

i have a bowtech tomkat i bought back in 2007 i think. great bow and mine is set to 65-68lbs. i am a short guy at 5'7" but weigh a ton lol.. since my draw length is short i can handle heavier pulls. its holding it back for long periods of time is where many folks cant handle it.. thats when you need to back down. i am debating backing down but ill have to buy all new arrows and those babies aint cheap.

another Bowtech Tomkat here...

I use a Diamond Black Ice. I've switched to carbon arrows since this pic was taken. "Coaldigger"...I've hunted some not too far from you near Emma (Cow Creek). My wife grew up near Martin.

damn fine buck there bud! fine indeed.

I use a compound bow. I just got a new bow last week. I got a great deal on a PSE Oman bow which I mainly hunt deer.

Women and Archery, two of my loves. Not nessessarily in that order:D
I shoot a Bear B Mag riser @50lbs.@28"s. The compound bow intro killed this model, but is deadly quiet.

Compound bow here, Hoyt Vectrix XL, single pin sight and 75lb draw weight. Bow in picture was a Hoyt Maxxis that was stolen. Only pic where you can still see the bow though. Wac'em broadheads. I'd really like to pick up a nice hunting recurve bow in the future.

Not a hunter, but I am an avid traditional archer. I shoot a 45# Bear Grizzly and a 50# Bear Ranger, both off the shelf, no stabilizers, sights, etc. Right now, my accuracy range is at 20 yards, looking to increase it to 25-30. Since this is BLADEforums, here's a photo of the Ranger with my knife (Stubby Razel):
