Hate to post anything after the brilliant showing of Todd, Ed, and Larry. They're magnificent and educational for me. I haven't posted anything lately. Thus, here's three variations of the Bowie Hunter I have. Are there anymore I'm not aware of?

G'Day Jackie, Beautiful knives and photos mate.
Without going into my knife boxes I can think of 4 more variations you need to get.....
1."The Naked Model" ...I knew I would have you're undivided attention with this one.
2."The grooved leather handle model"
3.Craftsman U.S.A.
4."The leather rings all the way to the cross guard model"..this is actually one of my old working Schrades..I do use some...
so keep collecting......Hoo Roo

Larry,

Thanks. Is that Naked Model for real and what was it's purpose? It sure is strange looking.

Thanks a lot for the information. It amazes me the many variations in Schrade-Walden knives. This months Schrade=Walden collecting is going to be slim. Just sprung for a couple Case Kodiak's and Exotics today.

Have a great night and better tomorrow.

Jackie

Nah Jackie.....the walden is real but it didnt leave the factory undressed like that!
Several of the leather rings were broken when I got it <the Seller forgot to show that side in the photos and it came with several other knives I was happy with and I'm too mellow to complain so just took all the washer/ rings off as an example of the full tang and I might even put a couple of Eucalypt gum slabs on when I get the time and give it an international flavor. Hoo Roo
P.S. you remain in both camps with your beloved Case knives dont you?The only folding Case knives I keep are my wife's and my bone Hobos we eat with at Outdoors Chinee instead of using the bloody little plastic thingies that break immediately! We wear them in our Case pouches on our R.M. Williams bush belts. <knife, fork & spoon> Cool! She would see me get rid of all the Schrades but not the Hobos..how ironic.....aint gunna happen...she departs before me luvly Schrades..

Larry,

You had me going on the Naked Bowie, good job. I have been had a few times myself, cracked spacers and such. Got to a point where if it doesn't have 4 to 5 good close up pictures of the knife, I won't bid.

Yeah, still collect the Case's along with the Schrade-Walden's but love them both. Also, I like to collect vintage (pre-1970) fixed blades like Ka-Bar, Cattaraugus, Remington/Pal, and Sheffield, England made. Schrade-Walden and Case are my two primary collectibles, though.

Larry,

Just wanted to let you know that my Schrade-Walden collecting is still going strong. Received an excellent condition S-W 147-S in this morning's mail. This variation has a brass guard and the tang stamp is on the opposite side of the other one I have.

Believe, I still got a couple more en route; an 148A Licorice and another variation of the 148-L (Black,White,Red,White,Black Spacers).

Have a great day, my friend.

Jackie

Larry,

I noticed something while looking at some pictures of Bowie Hunters. Some has a Curved Guard and others have a Straight Guard. Is this unique or common place?

Jackie

Hi Jackie, nice knives, always enjoy the pictures and the questions. We all benifit from these. Not sure about the guards, have some of both. I know you mostly collect the Schrade Walden fixed blades, but as a point of interest there is a Schrade Walden ,Bowie Folding Hunter #225H. Happy collecting,G.M
