Several years ago I thumbed through the greatest book on Antique Bowies that I have ever seen. It was full of pictures and some known history on each knife. It is a full size book and Im sure is no longer in print. Does anyone know of such a book? I need the correct name and the author to do a productive search to buy one. Thanks, Bruce

Their was a auction catalog from Butterfield and Butterfield for "The William R. Williamson Bowie Knife Collection" featuring over 350 knives and 100 antique
firearms and swords. The catalog is more than 150 pages, has lots of full page color pictures and sold for around $50 from Butterfield and Butterfeild. The going
price for the soft cover is $100 dollars and the hard bound copy is going for $250 dollars. When they sent the prices realized from the auction I was very surprised
at what some of the knives sold for. The rare horse head pommel bowie knife by James Rogers auctioned off for $79,500 dollars. The bowie knife presented to
Edwin Forrest by his fiend Colonel James bowie auctioned off for $145,500 dollars.

That Williamson Collection Auction Catalog is a good one.

I think Bruce is talking about the "Antique Bowie Knife Book" by Bill Adams. Bruce the only problem is that the book has an auction track record of between 400 and 500 dollars. I saw a few for sale at the Blade Show a couple of years ago for 200.00. I have seen a copy in my local library of all places.

Thanks Guys, I now want both books. I need to go kiss Santa maybe she will get them for me by Christmas. Really Thanks, Bruce

The local library here has a copy of The Antique Bowie Knife Book also. When they first got it, it was placed on the shelf in general circulation, but now is on the reference shelf and can not be checked out. It has been nearly worn out with use.
LOTS o'folks love Bowie knives I reckon!

Most all the gun or knife books in our library system get stolen. If it is still in your library you might try to get them to make it a reference book.

I never even thought of the local library. I will check it out asap. Thanks for all the help. I have a dealer searching for the two titles you guys gave me. Bruce
