Bowie knife sheath

I am trying to decide what type sheath to get for my Western w49 Bowie. I will carry it primarily hiking, or when pruning bushes around my property. The original sheath has a belt loop above the sheath opening. Later versions added a dangler. A sort of high ride with the belt loop below the sheath opening seems interesting, yet with its 9" blade, might make it difficult to get the knife out. What do you think?

Baldric carry, leather or kydex. Leather seems more appropriate for that Bowie though ( mountaineer leather make some EXCELLENT sheath systems ).
