So I find myself looking for a large knife in the Bowie style and leaning toward the Condor Undertaker or Bear & Son Freedom fighting . Yes there are better ones out there but my budget is $300 TOPS! I also found some websites that showed some nice stuff but the price seemed way too cheap. So any help getting out of this rabbit hole is appreciated!

So after a lot of input here and on my local gun forum I have one on the way! I almost ordered a Junglas 2, couldn't find a Ka-Bar BK9 in stock,and the Bark River I found was a little out of budget. So due to a little luck and timing a member on my local forum reached out with a Western w49 Bowie!!! I haven't gotten it yet but can't wait until I do. I think it will fill the bill ( or want ) for now, thanks for all the input! I will post pics. when I get it, and still might order that Junglas 2 !!

Ka-Bar Becker BK-9?

I found a blank on ebay years ago after Camillus closed their doors.

After years of asking people about finishing it, finally found a guy that would.

You can find them for $200 or less, Ka-Bar still makes them.

Traditional? Cold Steel, either the Laredo or Trailmaster in 3v. Joker of Spain makes a few nicer ones in more traditional styles. And Fox of Italy still makes a decent one as their #601 Big Game.

Non-traditional? As mentioned, Becker is a good place to look, Tops also.

I don't know whether they're still available, but I think the Ontario Spec Plus Marine Raider Bowie (SP 10) is a bargain at around $100.

Tony Mont Tony Mont comes to mind for affordable Bowies. If you want to go for manufactured Bowies then the aforementioned offerings from Cold Steel are great.

Edit to add:

Here's a list of great options from Cold Steel including some that were not mentioned above:
- Recon Scout;
- Trailmaster;
- Laredo Bowie;
- Drop Forged Bowie;
- Marauder;
- Natchez Bowie (possibly above your price point);
- Drop Forged Survivalist.

Also, the vintage Western W49 is a great option that can usually be found for sale on the secondary market.

Maserin makes a Bowie and a Boar Hunter that you might like. These are made in Italy, I bought BH because I love Orange and it's a very nice knife.

I have this in my crosshairs for a few years now, but as i do not use fixed blades in my everyday life i always decide to get a new folder, instead. It will come home though!

WoW! Backing up a bit when I said $300 (TOPS) my limit not the brand, I'm a hunter and woods bum when I can. I almost jumped on a Ka-Bar BK9 but a few weeks out if I order it, not in stock. SMKW has a sale on a Junglas II that is tempting but my inner cowboy asks are you sure.LOL!
