Uh, you hold on to the dull end and cut things with the sharp end? Sorry if english isn't your first language but I'm not sure what you are asking?

What seems to be the issue. A "Bowie knife" is generally a fixed blade knife.

So, I assume you have a folder of some sort or your looking at some other issue to be answered.
