Very nice!! Two questions: Do you ever play with a hamon on a knife like this? And, what hardness of the cutting edge do you get with your differential HT?

thanks. I do play with hammon/ clay quench but not with 5160 steel. I am finishing one now made of 1075 its a drop point. I don't have a tester for the hardness but have tested my knives/ht process with edge holding ,flexing etc.and they have performed well ..Steve Randall

I don't know all the science, but I do know, that some carbon steels such as 10 series steels show the hamon line better. I'm sure there are people better and smarter than me on this web that can explain it. Steve

Good looking knife for your first post.

Bill Siegle uses 5160 with a differential HT, and he can get a temper line.

This knife is still for sale. I've reduced the price to $100.00 + shipping.
I can provide a sheath for $20.00 (my disclaimer: sheath making not my area of expertise, will be basic leather sheath) Thanks for the nice comments. Steve Randall

I got my knife Saturday. WOW! It is fantastic. It looks even better than the pictures. The angle of the handle to the blade is just right. The handle is beefy enough to hold onto. I haven't had the opportunity to use the knife, but you can bet I will on my next trip out to the woods.

I appreciate your promptness in getting it to me. Thank you.

Great price, keep them coming, the large blades at good prices really are in demand.
