Yeah, it does matter what I give as a gift to a violent person. With the pillow he might suffocate me and I should not give him a chance to put a beach ball into my... :(. So the knife is not so bad. May be paintfull but quick. Shotgun might be even a better gift for him... for me actually...:D

Anyway, I'll take my chances. If he will spend more than few seconds looking at the knife before he reacts, I might have a chance to run far enough...:p
 
There's no doubt in my mind that he'll love it. There's nothing about that knife that he could dislike - it's beautiful.
Oh, I'd call it a bowie ;)
 
I am not one to get too caught up in strict definitions. That's a bowie.

wow,awesome knife,If your ever down arkansas way ,you should come to littlerock and see the knife room in the museum here,has one of the knives here supposedly made by james black for Mr. Bowie,great huge knife,but doesn't look like many that are common today Since noone really knows exactly what Jim's knife really looked like. I'd say go with what you like,and man is that one fine knife!If your friend doesn't like it(could i have it?) hehe,great job!
 
If you can find a book called KNIVES 2000 the 20th Annual Edition, it has an artical about Bowies, and they picture what the writer belives to be the original knife of Bowies Sandbar Fight. The blade on that knife looks so much like what you have made, I think you have made a true Bowie style knife. Your friend will love it. THAT IS A VERY NICE BOWIE.
 
Its a beautiful bowie, with the old time stag handles. Looks great to me. Nice job all around. Thanks for posting it to see. :thumbup:
 
Thanks guys. I gave it to my friend and it seems like he likes it.
I should say it was first bowie knife I ever made. Next time I will try to make something better.
