I picked up a Bowie blank and I've never made one before. It's not in front of me but I think the blade is about 8 inches and the tang about 4. My question is, with a tang that short, I dont really have any room to put a pomel on the end of it. So, am I only limited to drilling into wood or whatever material I decide to use for the tang to go into? Unless I welded some threaded rod onto the end of the tang? Thanks

You can weld threaded rod onto the end of the tang. Cut a notch for your blade to slide into in the center of the bolt and then weld it or you could just make a hidden tang with a pin and epoxy. Pretty much the only options you have.

Will the sodder take the piening? I may go with that if it does. I haveth no welding stuff.
