This is one of my all time favorites. It balances just a little heavy to the handle and the slight arched contour of the knife causes gravity to make it lay comfortably in the hand, sharp edge down and ready to use. The wood is some hard maple that I found in my son's firewood pile. It was obviously from the area near the root crown and has a very tight curl. Stabilized and dyed it caused the curl to stand out; it almost looks like you could climb into it.
Forged from 52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain structure throughout the blade
Flat grind with a finished with a 400 grit belt
Distal tapered full tang
Stabilized curly hard maple handle with black Micarta spacers. I sculpted the handle with a palm swell and flattened the area for the third and fourth fingers, this was done for both comfort and control.
Overall length: 9 3/4 inches
Blade: 5 inches
Leather scabbard with a belt loop for a right hand carry
